Walk Down Memory Lane: Photo Album Of Kodak Moments From ‘70s And ‘80s Discovered

Those around in the ‘70s and ‘80s would recall the nostalgic era that provided cheaper groceries, cinema tickets, stadium passes, smoking sections in McDonald’s, and grocery clerks that helped with your shopping. Affordable gas and much more.

A photo album containing scraps of Kodak moments from the ‘80s and ‘90s has been discovered, and the wholesome photos take one back to the long-gone era. They include kids playing and interacting without fear of insecurity, without phones or iPads distracting them, and much more.

Photos of high school students back then showed them in casual, smart outfits with no jeans. They looked well put together, the young men in shirts or tees and the ladies in dainty dresses or skirts with blouses.

Dresses for young girls were more age-friendly back then. They featured frills, floral detailing, and cute Peter Pan collars. The gowns usually had layers, giving them that puffy look, with the hem resting just below the knees.

People’s grandparents and the elderly of today were the youngsters of the ‘70s and ‘80s. It was a time when cool fashion was in vogue, and ladies kept their makeup minimalistic but went all out with flamboyant hairstyles.

The Beatles were already a craze in the ‘70s; however, bands like Led Zeppelin, The Beach Boys, Black Sabbath, and Queen also owned the airwaves. An all-woman rock group named The Runaways also came together in 1975, comprising singers and instrumentalists Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Jackie Fox, Cherie Currie, Sandy West, and Michael Steele. Other female-only bands of the era include Jefferson Airplane, The Pointers Sisters, Sisters Sledge, and others.

Today, smartphones contain what used to be bulky items like radios, TVs, video cameras, floppy disks, keyboards, and so much more. A photo featured a headphone-wearing man carrying a heavy radio and video camera, with many other electronics displayed.

With the rise of technology and everybody minding their business, self-service is the way for most stores. However, grocery clerks were actively involved in your shopping, even helping you load your car back then.

Drive-in cinemas were common in the past, and viewers could stop by on their way to work. They were also great scenery for lovers and did not cost much. There were thousands of such theaters all over the U.S., but only about 300 still function these days.

Many young persons today have tattoos, extra piercings, or colored hair. However, this was not the case decades ago. Simple was in, with little modifications to the face or body. People invested more in outfits and quality shoes and bags to feel cool.

One of the many photos in the Kodak scrapbook showed a baby in a not-so-safe-looking car seat, mostly hard metal and plastic with no padding. The smiling youngster looked satisfied and comfortable while strapped to it with the car’s safety belt.
