Jeff Bridges Shares Health Update Three Years After ‘Nearly Dying’

Jeff Bridges, renowned for his diverse portrayals of characters ranging from the iconic Dude in The Big Lebowski to the troubled country singer Bad Blake in Crazy Heart, a role that earned him an Academy Award, has enjoyed an illustrious career spanning over six decades. Despite, his numerous achievements, the 74-year-old actor has faced his fair share of health challenges.

The actor was previously diagnosed with cancer and in January 2021, he contracted COVID-19 which made his immune system weak and made his cancer prognosis worse. Thankfully, Bridges was able to overcome his health issues and the actor recently shared a heartwarming update about his health.

During a conversation with Page Six at the 49th Chaplin Award Gala in New York on Monday night, Bridges shared that he’s experiencing significant improvement in his health three years after facing a life-threatening situation during treatment. “My health is great,” he told the news outlet.

He expressed that while his illness offered him valuable insights, he didn’t dedicate much of his thoughts to his health challenges. “It’s such a learning experience being sick like that,” Bridges added. “It’s amazing the way the mind can forget all that stuff, I’m not thinking too much about the past.”

After swiftly recuperating, Bridges immediately dove back into his professional endeavors. Recently, it was announced that he will reprise his role as the ingenious video game designer Kevin Flynn in the highly anticipated third chapter of the Tron saga, titled Tron: Ares.

The 74-year-old expressed his enthusiasm to work after the news broke on Monday. “I’m heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third installment of the Tron story,” Bridges admitted on the Film Comment podcast (via Deadline). “Jared Leto is the star of this third one, I’m really anxious to work with him; I’ve admired his work.”
