Australian billionaire Clive Palmer has announced a date for the first voyage of the Titanic’s replica, Titanic II, which will set sail in June 2027. “We are very pleased to announce that after unforeseen global delays, we have re-engaged with partners to bring the dream of Titanic II to life. Let the journey begin,” the Blue Star Line CEO announced.
Palmer first revealed this plan in 2012 and then in 2017, noting that his company would build the ship, however, nothing seemed to progress particularly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He is now assuring that production will begin next year, with Blue Star seeking proposals and plans from potential builders.

Although he plans to make his upcoming creation as exact as the ill-fated liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in April 1912, there will be a few changes including highly sophisticated navigation equipment and a lot more lifeboats. “Addressing a previous shortcoming, an innovative addition includes an extra deck dedicated solely to lifeboats, strategically positioned to offer improved visibility for the captain over the bow,” Blue Line’s website reads.

The adjustments to the original will ensure “enhanced navigation and oversight capabilities, especially in challenging maritime conditions,” and feature “advanced radar technology, and modern communication devices.”
“Titanic II’s design prioritizes safety without compromising its historical charm, promising passengers a secure and memorable voyage reminiscent of the golden age of ocean travel,” the company further promised.
What passengers can look forward to
Aside from the technical features, voyagers can enjoy exquisite first, second, and third/steerage class cabin experience on the ship which will have grand staircases and 835 cabins over nine decks. “Titanic II offers modern amenities and comforts, including luxurious accommodations, gourmet dining options, entertainment venues, and wellness facilities,” the company stated. “These amenities ensure a memorable and enjoyable experience for passengers while honoring the timeless elegance of ocean travel.”
The liner’s voyage is expected to take off at South Hampton, England before sailing to Cherbourg, France, and then New York City. Despite his wife’s opposition to the project, Palmer said he is funding it himself, with “a couple of hundred million dollars” reserved for the recreation. “Titanic ll is something that can provide peace. It can be a ship of peace between all countries of the world,” he said in a press release. “Millions have dreamt of sailing on her, seeing her in port and experiencing her unique majesty. Titanic ll will be the ship where those dreams come true.”
