88-Year-Old Julie Andrews Seen For First Time In Seven Months Using Cane

Diving into the world of acting back in 1945, Julie Andrews is no stranger to the spotlight, but she’s not often seen during candid outings. Recently, 88-year-old Andrews was spotted enjoying a stroll while aided by an assistive cane while shopping in the Hamptons.

In a career spanning over seven decades, Andrews has accumulated several accolades, including six Golden Globe Awards, three Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, an Academy Award, and a BAFTA Award. Still, she remains active in the industry, with film credits including 2022’s The King’s Daughter and Minions: The Rise of Gru, and TV appearances in the tribute specials Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love and Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic.

Her hair was in its usual short golden waves, with the style perfectly showing off her large, shining earrings. As she stepped into a car, Andrews was also seen holding a brown mobility cane with a silver handle.

Although not often seen in public these last few months, Andrews appeared to be in a positive mood as the week kicked off. All the while, she was joined by her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, who stayed close by.

Andrews was born in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, England, but by the ’50s, she was making her Broadway debut, and New York would be where she would call home. In particular, she planted roots in Long Island, the better to be near her daughter, 66-year-old Hamilton.

Andrews has three children. Emma is her first, who she shares with set designer Tony Walton. She eventually married director Blake Edwards, and together they adopted two Vietnamese girls, Amelia and Joanna; Andrews also became stepmother to Blake’s two children, Jennifer and Geoffrey.

Emma is known as an actress and director, but most famously, she is the author of several children’s books, including Dumpy the Dumptruck, which she wrote in collaboration with her equally famous mother. Together, they composed 13 “Dumpy,” 12 of which were illustrated by Emma’s father Tony.

With a setup like that, no matter how quiet this famous family keeps their private life, each day is bound to be exciting!
