When you’re a drug addict, it’s all math,” the Friends star wrote.

Almost a year after the book’s release, Perry shared a reassuring photo on his Instagram, and fans were relieved to see him thriving. “Here is me, and my father John, both holding a beverage,” he captioned the post featuring his dad, John Perry, with whom he co-starred in 1977’s movie Fools Rush In.

He was inspired to write the book during his extended stay at the hospital, although he almost gave up on it. “Whenever I bumped into something that I didn’t really want to share, I would think of the people that I would be helping, and it would keep me going,” he told The New York Times.
