I have spent the last twenty minutes looking at beautiful pictures of Skeleton Face Paint designs. There are dozens of beautiful photographs of skeleton face paint jobs that look like they were applied by the world’s best artists. I’m throwing a huge halloween party this year and I’ve been on the lookout for some inexpensive halloween costume ideas for myself and my guests. I’ll definitely be stocking up on black and white face paint so I can take a stab at turning some of my best friends into an army of skeletons.

Skeleton face paint designs are easy and inexpensive to create. You can get as detailed or as simple as you’d like. The best part about this costume idea is that you don’t really need to be an artist to do a good job. So let’s get started.

You’ll need some black and white face paint, of course. Gather some sponges and brushes as well. You should be able to find sponges at a craft store or in the makeup section of a pharmacy. If you don’t have a fine brush to paint the details with, get some hypoallergenic eyeliner instead. That will help you when it comes time to draw the teeth on your skeleton face paint costume.

Dip your sponge in water and wring it out. You need a little moisture on the sponge to help the makeup bond well. Next, put the sponge in your white makeup. Lay down a solid base of white makeup all over your face, excluding the rectangular area around the eyes. Wet and wring out another sponge, then dip it in the black makeup. Close your eyes and put black around the eye area, including the eyelids. The eyelids can be slightly tricky, so be sure to be thorough with this area. It helps to simply close your eyes and let the makeup dry a bit before opening them. Brushes will help you cover up any spots you might have missed with the sponge, so check your skin thoroughly.

Next, brush on the nose with black face paint. It should be a coarse triangular shape. By this point, your skeleton face paint should be coming along well! You’re almost done! The last step is a little tricky. Having a thin brush or eyeliner will come in handy. Draw a bunch of vertical lines across the lips in black face paint. These are your teeth. Once the lines are in place, connect them with horizontal lines. And, presto! Your skeleton face paint job is complete! Bonus points for you and your costume if you have one of those cool skeleton t-shirts to go along with it!
