The 3 Stages of Putting a Halloween Costume on your Pet

Ok so last night I officially became one of THOSE pet owners.

The type that dresses their pet up for Halloween.

I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself.  I was at Petsmart and the costumes were on sale, and I just knew the whole experience would be hilarious.

What I learned is that there are very distinct stages your pet goes through when you put a costume on them.

Stage 1: OMG WTF IS GOING ON

Stage 1 involves shock and confusion.  For a solid minute Jasper just sat there with the most dumbfounded look on his face.  He doesn't wear a collar because he's an indoor only cat so he was confused to have anything on him.

Stage 2: GET IT OFF!!!

Once the shock wore off, he ran around like a psycho pawing at the costume and generally spazzing out.

Stage 3: WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME!!!

Once your pet realizes that they can't get the costume off on their own, depression sits in and they stare at you looking all forlorn and mopey.  Like you're the worst mom in the world and because you're generally howling with laughter at this point, you are evil and enjoying their mental anguish.

All in all, it was an AWESOME experience for me.  For Jasper? Not so much.

I'm so mean.

Cheers,

Ash
