I saw Jean Moorhead in the film The Violent Years (1956) and I wondered, Who is she? After a lot of research, I came up with more questions about this American actress and model that I can’t answer. But I also found a lot of interesting things? Who was Jean Moorhead? I don’t know, but what I do know, I think, is very interesting.

She was born in Knoxville on February 4, 1935 (maybe), and had a younger sister, Marilyn. Her parents moved the family to Santa Monica, California when she was five.

By the time she was 11, she had an uncredited part in the RKO film called ”Banjo”, a girl and her dog film. There she is as Judy, the taller of the kids.

She’s a blonde, blue-eyed, and beautiful-an accomplished ballet dancer but with no ambitions to make dancing a career. Dramatic perfection is her goal.

“I want to grow up to be like Ingrid Bergman,” she said shyly A lofty ambition indeed!

THAT SUPPOSEDLY junk number, 13, looks like a winner for a very talented juvenile actress.

Her name: Jean Moorhead. She’s 11 years of age, but as it looks now by the time she’s 13 she’ll lie as well known as any of the younger screen players.

She’s making her screen debut in “Banjo,” an RKO film relating the adventures of a beautiful English setter. She was born on Aug. 13. She tested for her role on her birthday. Her first scene was on Sept. 13.

She’s blonde, blue-eyed, and beautiful-an accomplished ballet dancer but with no ambitions to make dancing a career. Dramatic perfection is her goal.

“I just want to grow up to be like Ingrid Bergman,” she says shyly. A lofty ambition indeed!
