Yvette Vedder Gets Cast in First Film, Sunset Boulevard (1950)

Yvette Vedder was born on August 26, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri. Before she was a year old she was living in Malibu, California. It was while attending UCLA for theater arts that she was discovered. She was in a local bar when a man walked up and asked if she wanted to be in a Billy Wilder Picture. It was that easy for the 5′ 3″ voluptuous blue-eyed blond to get into movies.

Eventually, she would change her name to Yvette Vickers and star in the classics, Reform School Girl, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, and Attack of the Giant Leeches. Oh, and she also was Playboy’s Playmate of the Month in July 1959.

YVETTE VEDDER WINS
ROLE IN NEW FILM

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vedder, Foothill road, Ventura, have learned that their daughter, Yvette Vedder will play Marcia, the friend of Actress Nancy Olson in Paramount’s “Sunset Boulevard.”

Mrs. Vedder said today that the film will be her daughter’s first picture and that Miss Vedder has been studying dramatics at the University of California at Los Angeles for the past three years.

Miss Vedder is now a senior majoring in the theater art Course at UCLA and will not graduate until next February. She is a friend of Muss Olson in real life, and has been described as “reminiscent of Jean Harlow as a dazzler.”

The drama student has appeared in “As You Like It” and “Voice of the Turtle” at UCLA, as well as in a scholastic film version of “Born Yesterday” made at the university.

Indications are that Miss Vedder may be optioned for further movie work.
