Kenya trending news: Man beaten to death over loan in Kirinyaga

Kenya Trending News shows Police at a trading center in Kirinyaga are now investigating the murder of a man over an alleged 700 shilling debt. The victim is said to have owed the amount to a local loaning group.

A group of boda boda riders who are used to recover the group’s debts are linked to the killing. According to local residents, boda boda operators in the area run a Kangaroo court where defaulters are taken for questioning.

“There is an illegal group running at Kangaroo court in this area,” one local said. The OCPD, Sicily Gatiti confirmed the incident saying the man was badly beaten and succumbed to injuries. The body was found near a local high school and preliminary autopsy shows that he was beaten and was on his way home when he died.

According to Kenya trending news,Gatiti however, said she was not aware of any such groups and warned residents to report debt cases to the police and not illegal middle men who might be operating in the area. She issued a warning saying if such a group existed then it will be dealt with the full force of the law.

Taking the law into your own hands can be a very dangerous thing. If you are having a misunderstanding with someone, contact the local authorities to ensure you deal with the matter in a manner suitable to both parties.
