Guy Fieri is a national treasure. For someone who started as a contestant (and winner) on a Food Network show to becoming the self-proclaimed “Mayor of Flavortown,” Fieri has stolen the heart of meme-loving Americans. His glistening frosted tips, goatee, sports sunglasses, and love for fiery button-down shirts have become somewhat of a style itself, as people are even dressing up as Fieri for Halloween and other occasions.

So how did Fieri become this meme icon? Most people know him as being the star of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives who travels cross-country to try food from locally famous joints. Recently, however, he’s gained a much stronger social media presence as well. Fieri boasts a whopping 4.6 million people following on Instagram and Twitter combined and has plenty of viral tweets on topics ranging from Fortnite to Spongebob.

Despite the memes, let us not forget that Fieri is still a chef above all. He started his television journey on the Food Network by winning The Next Food Network in 2006. From there, he started Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, which is currently on its 26th season with over 380 episodes. He also hosts Guy’s Grocery Games, which started in 2013 and is also on the Food Network. He also has his own recipes posted on the Food Network website. Before his television presence, he even opened his own restaurant in the late 1990s.

As of recently, Fieri has also taken on the challenge of turning himself into a meme. His Instagram is flooded with memes featuring him in other pop culture references. From being photoshopped into a Fieri Mr. Incredible to remaking the cover of Netflix’s “Making a Murderer” into a Fieri-themed “Making a Hamburger” Fieri has no lack of humor. He says he loves his employees of Flavortown, and he enjoys coming up with ideas with his computer-savvy team. As long as his frosted tips, facial hair, and sunglasses are photoshopped on to anything, pretty much anybody will think it’s funny.

Even if you don’t want to follow Guy Fieri on social media, his shows are worth watching. If you love food, tune in to an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives any time it’s on the Food Network. Finally, if you ever find yourself lacking a costume, it’s never a bad idea to dress up as the Mayor of Flavortown.
