How to create the perfect gallery wall.

Photos are collections of our most beautiful moments. I believe these moments, be it in every day life or the best day of your life should be captured and displayed for all to see.

When I was a little girl I used to go around taking mental images of everything I saw that was beautiful. I used to pause for a second, blink extra hard as if my eyes were the shutter on a camera lense and just take it all in. To my mind this stunning memory became a beautiful mental image, I would now have stored forever.

Let me tell you, not much has changed! But now instead of capturing these moments only with my eyes, I take actual pictures whenever I can. I’m forever camera in hand snapping away at even the most random of moments, but this is when I believe our lives are at their most beautiful.

I like to have our  beauty captured and displayed all over our home. We have pictures in every single room of the house, even in our downstairs toilet! One of my favourite ways we’ve displayed our treasured memories is in our Gallery wall.

I’ve always been a fan of collage style frames as Scott and I could never decide on just one photo- we needed them all! A Gallery Wall is very similar as you don’t need to settle for just one photo, you can have as many as you like. (marital bliss restored )

When creating your gallery wall it’s critical to have a plan. Although the lay out may seem random in actual fact it’s not. Gallery walls need to be interesting in order to look good, we all know interesting is never boring!

Before we even dared put nail to wall, Scott and I sat down and began to play with different lay outs. It was a little bit like playing pairs with a deck of cards , no two of the same could be next to each other and a scattered out style seemed best.

Once you’ve decided on your layout it’s a good idea to white tac pieces of paper in the same sizes of your frames onto the wall to make sure your 100% happy. A birdseye view is just not the same.

Now the positioning is perfect it’s time for the fun part, selecting the pictures!

We tried to mix it up a little bit with photos from our family photo shoot, beautiful weddings we’d been to and a cute little one of Amelie’s sweet little face.

Another way you can inject some more style into your gallery is by using prints. I’m a massive fan of black and white and so I absolutely love these luxe style beauties from Chelsea Prints.

Mixing your own photos with stylish prints is another way to give your wall another dimension. You could even create a gallery just with prints alone!

Here are just a few of my favourite gallery styles!

We’ve got big plans for our hallway makeover in a few months time! Think pale grey walls, chandeliers (I’m working on the Mr Ryder still!) and a gallery filled with prints, photos and the pages of our home magazine shoot! Did I mention our home is being featured in a magazine?! .

I believe your home is another outlet to express who you are. To hang your pride and joy’s for the whole world to see, or whoevers popping over that afternoon!
