This year, Danish design brand Vipp opened the doors to a new countryside guesthouse created by the Dutch design studio Studiotoff. Now they welcome us to a Scandinavian design villa in Puglia in the South of Italy with a perfect blend of modern luxury and impeccable design.
Located on the heel of Italy in the village of Ostuni in the Puglia region, a place that has earned a reputation for being one of the most beautiful towns in Italy, Villa Vipp is a new spot worth staying in.
The one-story family guesthouse echoes Puglia’s whitewashed building typology punctuating the scenic landscape. Studiotoff has managed to erect a modern retreat with respect to the architectural vernacular in a protected historic area. Three double bedrooms, two bathrooms and a combined living area and kitchen outline the interior in a minimal and beautiful Nordic style.
“What characterizes our projects is a sharp architecture combined with an interior of refined simplicity exuding a calmness and lightness,” says Irene and Barbara, founders of Studiotoff.
A project charged with the classic saying of ‘Il dolce far niente’ (the sweetness of doing nothing), here you step into a timeless pocket where slowness sets the agenda. While the indispensable infinity pool offers a much-needed dip, the veranda lounge area calls for a siesta after a day of exploring.
With the alchemy required to make a guest feel at home, Studiotoff and Vipp have conjured up a haven for the discerning, design-minded guest. A curated furniture selection in harmony with what surrounds it is juxtaposed by objects that add to that rural, simplistic charm of the countryside. With a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living, the villa offers a unique inside-outside feeling.
