SCANDINAVIAN EASTER DECOR FOR YOUR HOME

Tags: easter

Easter is fast approaching, and it might be time to get a few little new decor pieces to add a spring feeling to your home. I find that in the times we are living in now with limited things to do outside of our homes, it feels nice to do a bit extra to celebrate any little festivity inside. Here are a few ways to make it special with Scandinavian Easter decor:

The chicken flower pot from Swedish DBDK is an imaginative ceramic pot that can be used for a plant or to store treats inside. The pot has a classic round shape with a small chicken beak on the side. The pot is a perfect Easter decoration but can also be used as a flower vase or a container for your pencils all year round.

An easy way to decorate your home for Easter is by getting new napkins to make your table feel festive. I love these Easter napkins from Danish brand Lene Bjerre, they come in a 20-pack and are decorated with feathers. The napkins look great at Easter but if you do not use them up, they can also get used on special occasions at any time of the year.

Celebrate Easter by decorating your home with delicate glass eggs, playful birds and colourful details. These glass eggs from Iittala are delicate and minimal – the perfect finishing touch for your table settings and spring-time decorations. Each decorative ornament has been made from mouth-blown glass and comes in a stylish gift box. In addition, these cute 3 piece ceramic set of bird ornaments help to add fun. They come in colourful shades of powder, yellow and brown to add instant cheer to Easter.

Easter is often the time when we get the first feeling of spring, and the Hammershøi Easter series from Kahler captures that sense beautifully. The beautiful, fairy-tale collection is decorated with newly-sprouted twigs and traditional Easter symbols, hand painted by Rikke Jacobsen and transferred to the porcelain. The Hammershøi Easter collection features a decorative plate, Easter egg ornaments as well as a mug.

In Scandinavia, the tradition is to give a child (or a grown-up) a cardboard egg on Easter morning which you have already filled up with sweets and treats inside. This was such a fun memory for me from my childhood, and we would keep the egg for when the Easter bunny would arrive next year. You can for instance get these cardboard eggs at IKEA – these come in lovely spring colours and are the perfect gift for a loved one.

If you prefer something for the grownups, I love the simplicity of these monochrome Easter eggs from Swedish brand DBDK. These beautiful Easter eggs are made of papier maché from recycled paper and comes in black or white perfect for a minimal Scandinavian style home. Hide your favourite sweets in the egg or give it away as an Easter gift to someone special.

This beautiful wooden rabbit from Lucie Kaas has smooth curvatures and a smoked oak finish that will complement any decor whether for everyday or for Easter. It is a simple yet sophisticated home accessory that will inspire the harmonious essence of Danish nature perfectly and add a playful touch to your home.

The salt egg by Spring Copenhagen is a small, egg-shaped salt cellar that can be filled, for instance, with table or flake salt. Danish designer Tonn-P created it already in the mid-20th century, but it was put into widescale production only recently. The distinctive salt container brings joy in all table settings, and its closing mechanism protects the salt from moisture. The salt egg can of-course be used all year round, but is especially decorative on your Easter breakfast table.

Bring the spring season into your home with pops of colour and playful decor. These egg-shaped decorations from Arket are made from cardboard with a hanging cord at the top. Light and eye-catching, they can be easily placed around the house for a festive pop of colour. Available in different colours and comes in a pack of two.

This ceramic bird from the Swedish brand Cooee Design is a handmade with a smooth body and a little glazed beak. The bird comes in two sizes (8cm or 12 cm) and a range of colours. Place them singly or put a flock of birds near your vases. These fun decorative birds are a great decor that will be cherished for years to come.

Made of oak, the rabbit from Kay Bojesen was born in 1957 as the youngest member of the brands’s animal family. For decades, this universe has united children and adults in endless hours of storytelling and day dreaming. With its classic Nordic look – this design icon is something you can use all year round in your home but it is especially beautiful to decorate with during Easter.

The Casca glass eggs from ferm Living are a beautiful and playful addition to your home for Easter – one that can be used as decoration throughout the rest of the year as well. The decorative eggs are mouth-blown and handmade, and the irregular pattern of monochrome spots is unique to each individual piece. Place them in a bowl or in the windowsill to add a vibrant, whimsical touch to your décor.

Hang around from DBDK is a ceramic egg in with a playful shape that makes a perfect Easter decoration for your window. The egg looks like a chicken with a beak, wings and small cute feet. This cute hanging egg will soon be your new Easter favourite.

Decorating for Easter can be as simple as adding touches of yellow to your home – a colour we all associate with this time of year. This gorgeous Filos blanket from the Norwegian brand Røros Tweed is the perfect place to start, and will help you find hygge during your Easter holiday.

We shouldn’t forget the smallest members of the family; the little rabbit wooden figurine from the Danish brand OYOY is here to brighten up the day. The rabbit is made of a beech and oak mix and is delivered with a leather string, allowing you to either have the rabbit resting on a window sill or book shelf or to hang it up. A favorite in the kid’s room and a great way to add a hint of Easter.
