Each year Pantone predicts a Color that they think will trend in home décor. While beautiful, these colors are so unique, and sometimes so far out, that you may wonder how and if you will incorporate them into your home décor.

This year’s color, Ultra Violet, is no different. The color is gorgeous, but it may be impractical to think that everyone will be running out and painting their walls purple or make a statement with a room full of purple furniture.

However, this pretty color can be used to add some color and sophistication to your home without overwhelming it. So, let’s jump right in and discuss how you can use it in your home.

Add Some Accessories

If you are not sure you want to commit to ultra violet, try it out with some accessories. It can be a little less overwhelming and accessories are easy to change. Try artwork, baskets, pillows, throw blankets, art glass, and candles. If you want to go a little bolder, try anchoring a room with an audacious purple rug. Try making a statement with ultra violet on a sofa or chair. Use it as the only pop of color in a neutral palette to draw the gaze into the room. Mixing ultra violet with a deep turquoise definitely adds sophistication to a room. Either use ultra violet on the furniture and turquoise on the walls, or vice versa. Look for a turquoise that has a little purple in it. Adding a little lime green on a chair or throw pillows adds a little whimsy and fun to a space and keeps the color from becoming overwhelming.

Boldly Go Where Others May Be Afraid To

If you absolutely love this color and also love to take risks, consider using ultra violet in your kitchen cabinetry. This is a great color for a butler’s pantry or as shelving in an office or family room.
