How to save money & solve your storage problems

Could you use more space in your home?

Do you currently pay for storage space?

If you answered yes to either of those questions, keep reading!

Undeniably, we all need and crave more space. A quick search for ‘storage’ on Houzz brings up 1,237 articles. Now that’s saying something!

Many of us are forking out hundreds and thousands of dollars each year to pay for storage – money we will never see again, and money that could easily be used elsewhere!

By adding storage space to your backyard, you can instantly solve your storage problems AND save money!

Melwood’s freestanding structures (backyard cabanas) don’t require council permits and are quick and easy to set up.

Here’s what you need to know to get started:

First up: size and function

Start by determining what sort of space you will need inside the building, and what you will be storing in it.

Do you need it for lawn equipment & gardening supplies? Pool supplies and toys? Bulky bikes and salty surfboards?

Keep in mind that it may even be repurposed later down the track. Think home office, pool cabana, kids playroom or workshop.

Measure

Storage professionals suggest measuring the items you plan to store in your cabana now, whilst also allowing for storage growth over time. You don’t want to go for a smaller option just to regret it in a few years’ time.

It’s also a good idea to size up your backyard and check that your cabana will fit. Most councils in NSW and ACT require that your cabana must be at least 900mm from any boundary.
