Kitchen Cabinet Painting Mt Pleasant SC

Last week we finished our latest kitchen Cabinet painting job in Mt. Pleasant. This was a fun one to do while working with great people to achieve the look they were wanting. The home owners have small children what use stools to see above the counter tops. Over time the stools have inflicted some damage on the lower cabinets so it was time to paint them and change the look of their kitchen.

The Cabinet Painting Process

The very first thing we do on all cabinet painting jobs is to remove all the doors and drawer fronts. Those get loaded into the truck to get worked on back at the shop. Next, we clean and use our dustless sanding system to sand all the cabinet frames. After the sanding is complete we paint a coat on the frames and head back to the shop to begin work on the doors.

The doors get cleaned then sanded like the frames. Afterward, we begin spraying the doors. This set first got primed with BIN Shellac based primer. After the primer has dried with sprayed them twice with PPG BreakThrough in a satin finish. In between drying, we are also painting the frames at the customer’s house. We do not spray the frames because spraying in an occupied house can often cause more harm than good. Instead, we use fine finish mini rollers and sand between each coat.

On this job, the island was painted a different color than the rest of the kitchen so we had to complete the first set of doors then cover them before spraying the darker island doors.

Finishing Up

Once painting the cabinets has finished we then move on to the installation phase. The doors are stacked in the truck between sheets of wax paper and moving mats to protect them during transport. We then install all the cabinet doors and drawer fronts. After installing the doors we apply small felt pads to the back corners of the doors and drawer fronts so they close silently. We have darker pads for the island and lighter to match the rest of the kitchen.

As you can see painting those cabinets made a huge difference in the overall look of the kitchen. Painting your kitchen cabinets is by far the most cost effective way to completely change the look of your Mt Pleasant kitchen.
