If you are going to Lay Carpet Tiles then there are 7 things you must know before you start.

1. Ascertain whether your floor needs to be prepped to lay the Carpet Tiles evenly.
2. Prep your floor so it is clean. The floor may just need to be swept or a quick vacuum run over it. If there are serious cracks or the floor is uneven then use a leveling compound. Pour it over the floor (it will find its own level). Fill any serious concrete joins with plaster of paris (in a domestic environment) and use plaster dust in the concrete if in a commercial environment.
3. Have a cup of coffee and wait 15 minutes for it to dry.
4. Take a deep breath and grab the first Carpet tile. In a domestic environment, start at one wall (at the entrance) and work your way across (this requires less cutting) and back towards the rear of the room.
5. Lay Carpet Tiles per the arrow which should be on the back of them.
6. If the carpet tile needs to be cut in, use another tile as a template and cut along it with a sharp stanley knife. Keep the leftover tile to the side as you may need to use this to fill in any edges.
7. Use a strip over the carpet tile that is near the door, if it is not recessed. Domestic tiles don't need to be glued by the way, however for commercial purposes, use pressure senstive glue in a grid pattern (no need to do whole floor).
That's it. Make sure you have some spare carpet tiles so you can make quick repairs at a later date (swapping over any that are stained or worn).
