For large pieces of artwork, pack each of them separately using a specialty box that is a bit larger than the artwork or frame. If a specialty box is unavailable, you can also get a used box and flatten it. Just ensure you use a box that is bigger than the frame.
You’ll also have to be ready with the following packing items:
- Packing paper or linens
- Appropriate size boxes
- Brown paper
- Bubble wrap or other soft material to wrap and protect the frame
- Packing tape
- Marker
Wrap both the picture and the frame.
Using some brown packing paper, fully wrap the picture and the frame. Then wrap the packing tape all the way around the frame both lengthwise and widthwise ensuring the paper stays in place during the whole moving process.
Box them up.
If you decide to pack small photos and frames together in a single box, wrap each of them in a packing paper to ensure the glass won’t break during the move. Then mark both sides of each boxes with “Fragile” and it’s room location.
Secure them on the moving truck.
When loading the packed artworks and frames on the moving truck, keep them on their side and don’t lay them flat. This way, the pictures will absorb pressure easier on an edge than when they are flat.
