Tips and Tricks for a Military Move

Anyone that hears the word “moving” and “orders” is bound to panic and stress a little bit at the thought of packing everything up and Moving across the country. Luckily for you though, we’ve put together a list of everything that you need to know to make your Military move a breeze.

Plan and Organize in Advance

You’re going to have a lot of paperwork. The best thing to do is get a Binder and put all of your social security cards, birth certificates and other important documents in it and keep it somewhere where it won’t get lost. You can also keep cleaning lists and packing lists in this binder.

Declutter. Put Your Home on a Diet!

The best thing you can do before you move is get rid of everything you don’t need or don’t love. If it’s broken and you’ve been telling yourself for eight months that you’ll “fix it eventually” just throw it out because chances are you won’t have a chance.

Wash Away!

There’s nothing better than moving in and all of your clothes and sheets and curtains being clean. A month or so before you move, put that washer on overdrive and pack everything only after its had a bath!

Inventory It All

Taking inventory of everything you own is a wonderful opportunity to get rid of things and make sure you have proof that you owned something if you have to make a claim. This is why it’s a great idea to take pictures and put these in your binder. Start throwing cabinets open and snap away!

Yes, making a military move can have you in over your head in things to do, but we hope this list will help put you on the right track. Have a great move!
