Moving, especially when you’re bringing a Newborn along, can be super stressful and be kind of disheartening when everything isn’t going “according to plan”. Today, we’ve compiled a list of tips for a time when you might find yourself Moving with a newborn.
Stay Calm
Babies understand more than we give them credit for, sometimes. When it comes to a move with a newborn it’s important that you take some time alone and relax. Just sit and breath once in awhile. This can make a big difference in how you look at stressful situations and your Baby will read relaxation instead of panic and they’ll be less prone to fall apart, which is always a plus. There’s nothing more chaotic or stressful than a screaming baby on the interstate, so whatever you do, stay calm!
Box Up Your Baby Essentials
Make sure you box up your baby essentials in a separate box where you will be sure to find them easily without too much stress. Things like diaper wipes, diapers, baby toys, bibs, baby powder or rash cream, a pacifier, bottle and baby food. If it’s summertime, infant certified sunscreen is also a must!
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask For Help!
When it comes to moving with a baby, you need to think about what’s best for all of you and make plans accordingly. Do you have a friend or relative that might watch the baby at the new house, old house, or somewhere else? Even if it’s just long enough for the baby to nap, it can be a good idea to get an extra set of hands (or arms!) to help mom and dad out when everything is all over the place during a move. If you have a rambunctious toddler, having someone keep an eye on them long enough for you to get furniture and things in place can be a super big help. You can let them explore later.
Yes, moving with a newborn or even a toddler can be tough, but it’s not something you can’t handle with a little help from friends and a great moving company! Just be sure not to leave any moving tools or anything else potentially dangerous down where your baby can get to it!
