Wireless Home Security Cameras – Explore Wire-free Solutions for Around the House

Think of your personal tech and your home appliances/tech. How many of them are fully wireless? How many of them require power cables? Are there some that you wish required no wires or cables at all? The answer is almost without a doubt, yes. Having any tech or appliance around your house run totally independent of wires would be ideal. Think of your smartphone. How inhibited would you feel if it needed to be plugged into a power outlet at all times? Along those same lines, your Security tech doesn’t have to be mired down by restrictive data as well as power cables. This is where wireless home Security Cameras become the ideal solution.

With the introduction of the ONE Series and other smart home security solutions, LaView has moved into the future of user-friendly, WiFi camera solutions. Their easy, accessible design is ideal for anyone, regardless of their familiarity with tech. Other fully-wired IP camera systems as well as HD Analog systems are optimized with single cable power and data transmission. That being said, you still have to run cables behind walls to set one of these systems up. We realize that this will not appeal to every homeowner. For that reason, we wanted to provide fully wireless home security cameras.

ONE Link Wireless Battery Camera System

This set of wireless home security cameras is one of the easiest WiFi solutions that we offer across the board. Set up is simple as well as labor-free. The ONE Link runs off a 5500 mAh rechargeable battery that allows it to last up to 6 months while recording on motion detection only. Along with that, the system comes with a dome-shaped metal mounting bracket that you can screw in on any surface, then use the camera’s magnetic back to stick to the dome. From there, you can angle the camera in any direction to get the perfect view of anywhere on your property.

We encourage the outdoor use of these wireless surveillance cameras as they boast IP65 all-weather protection. More installation tips follow below!

The Smart Station – The Perfect Link for Your Cameras

The most crucial part of the system is the Smart Station which plugs directly into your router. From there, the wireless cameras synch with the station with the touch of a single button. That is the extent of the set up process! You power on and synch to the Smart Station. At that point, the cameras are running on their own secure network.

Beyond the easy synchronization of the cameras as well as the secure network, there are two main benefits of linking the wireless home security cameras via the Smart Station. These include lower bandwidth consumption and extended battery life.

One huge consideration for many users who live in homes with many network devices is that they don’t want a WiFi camera system eating up all their bandwidth. This is a fair concern. The good news is that the ONE Link keeps bandwidth requirements to a minimum. As mentioned above, when the cameras are connected via the Smart Station, they are operating on a network of their own. This minimizes bandwidth consumption as the station is the only component directly connected to your network.

When it comes to battery life, connecting via the station allows the cameras to save on energy as their network connection is managed by the station, not their own internal components.

Installation Tips for the ONE Link Wireless Home Security Cameras

One of the biggest benefits of the ONE Link system is its freedom from power and data cables. For that reason, the cameras are ideal for placing absolutely anywhere on your property. Virtually any indoor or outdoor location makes for good mounting spot based on your needs. Here is a list of some installation areas that you may or may not have considered for this type of wire-free security camera.

Indoor Metal Surfaces

As mentioned above, the back of each one link camera is fully magnetic. This makes for easy installation on any metal surface. If you are using the system indoors for family monitoring and safety, sticking this to the refrigerator is ideal.

Similarly, any other metal surface in the house will work for strategic placement of your ONE Link cameras. The magnetic backing of the cameras is the perfect workaround for renters who have to abide by drilling restrictions put into place by their landlords.

Indoor Corners of the Room

If you don’t have access to the ideal metal surfaces around the house, you can take advantage of the dome-shaped mounting bracket. Simply apply a single screw into the desired wall and fasten the bracket onto this. From there, you stick the camera on with its high-powered magnetic back and angle the camera in any direction.

The magnetic back is powerful enough to keep the camera on the mounting dome in any position. We recommend taking advantage of the cameras’ wide angle viewing by installing them high in the corner of a given room. Tilt at a slightly downward angle to get an overview of the area. You can adjust to the perfect view by referencing your camera’s capture area live on the LaView ONE app.

Indoor Flat Surfaces

In many cases, users just need to place a security camera on a flat surface inside their home. The flat bottom of the ONE Link camera design is appropriate for this. Suddenly, countertops, bookshelves, and mantles become the perfect home for these understated wireless home security cameras.

Keep in mind that if you install these indoors, you will want to be careful which rooms you install them in as well as the amount of movement in said room. The more motion the sensor picks up, the more recordings you will have, which leads to decreased battery life.

Outdoor Exterior of Home

As detailed above, these wireless home security cameras are weatherproof for use outdoors. Similar to the indoor applications, you can use metal doors or other metal fixtures around your home to take advantage of the magnetic backing.

Or, if you do not have metal surfaces in the ideal locations, you can use the mounting plate just as you would indoors. This makes any place on the exterior of your home, whether it is the outer wall, awning or eaves, suitable for ONE Link installation.

Pro Tip: When it comes to installation, we always recommend placing the cameras in high positions. This is for two reasons:

First, it is always good to keep the cameras out of arms reach. What you gain in mobility as well as ease of installation, you lose in hardware security. Compared to wired kits, which have cameras typically fastened to surfaces with screws, the ONE Link cameras only mount via magnet.

Second, higher mounting positions tend you yield better overall views of the desired area.

Check out what one of our top reviewers said about the ONE Link Battery Camera System:

Exterior Unconventional Surfaces

The mounting plate allows you to install the cameras on surfaces that would otherwise be unsuitable for this type of hardware. With outdoor installation, you don’t have to only install the cameras on the house itself.

You can screw the mounting plate in on wooden surfaces like sheds, fences and trees. This makes virtually any spot in your yard suitable for camera placement.

Hidden Locations

The mobile nature of these cameras opens your installation possibilities up to hidden areas. You can place these cameras in a bush or in a birdhouse outdoors as long as it is on your property. This keeps an honest view of your property as well as keeps anyone from stealing your well-hidden camera.

Always refer to your local state laws when it comes to hidden camera laws as well as policies!
