Jameson Irish Whiskey, Oreo & Ancestry raise spirits for St. Patrick’s Day 2024

Saint Paddy’s Day 2024 campaigns include Jameson Irish Whiskey’s new proposed holiday, Oreo’s rewards for rainbow hunters and Ancestry.com’s exploration into Irish history.

As the countdown to St. Patrick’s Day on March 17 ticks away, brands have left consumers with a pot of creative gold.

Let’s explore the spirit behind festive campaigns from Bushmills, Jameson, Guinness and more leading brands.

Jameson, Colin Jost & Michael Che seek to usher in a new ‘St. Patrick’s Eve’ tradition

Jameson Irish Whiskey aims to introduce a new tradition this year with its latest multichannel campaign – St. Patrick’s Eve. The campaign, created in partnership with agency-of-record Ogilvy, stars SNL hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che, invites consumers aged 21+ to enter for a chance to attend a Times Square Countdown party on March 16, hosted by the stars, with flights and accommodations provided by Jameson.

Additionally, consumers can tune into the livestream of the ‘rock drop’ at JamesonSPE.com, and invest in some limited-edition, streetwear-inspired jackets designed in collaboration with Jeff Staple’s Reed Art Department. Proceeds will support the Restaurant Workers’ Community Fund.

As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, Oreo is bringing a fresh twist to the celebration with the launch of new Oreo Mint Frozen Treats releases: Oreo Mint Bars, sandwiches and scoopable tub. To mark the occasion, Oreo, in collaboration with brand engagement company Fooji, is giving away ‘Pot-o-Oreo Frozen Treats’ to consumers who encounter rainbows from March 15 to 17.

To enter to win, they must share snapshots of rainbows in nature on Instagram Stories or X, tagging @oreo and using #OreoFrozenTreats and #Sweepstakes. The introduction of these additions to the lineup follows Oreo’s initial foray into the frozen aisle two years prior. Weber Shandwick lent creative support to this campaign.

The two brands have have teamed up to unveil over 1.6 million historical records from the Guinness Storehouse Archives, now accessible through Ancestry's family history platform.

The digitized records provide an intimate glimpse into the lives of former employees of Guinness' St James Gate Brewery in Dublin, spanning from 1799 to 1939, offering insights into Irish familial lineage, including occupational histories, residential addresses and even pub affiliations. Until March 22, anyone can visit ancestry.com/guinness to delve into these records free of charge, using a grandparent’s name and location to unearth their ancestors’ lives.
