Ok, so actually I did not like the bed. Had a lot of back and other pain that didn’t go away. But I talked with others who used the mattress and loved it, so I think it’s probably great for some people and not others.
The reason I decided to write a review though and the reason I decided to give it 4 stars is that while shopping for a mattress I wasn’t sure if it was one of those things where they advertise a money back guarantee but the fine print makes it hard to actually get your money. But that was not the case here. We told them we wanted to send it back, a man came to pick it up, and they gave us our money back. All in a few days time.
So while the mattress really wasn’t for us, it really was a risk free experiment.

Coil spring, gel foam, memory foam, hybrids, etc. – the whole list of opportunities. All claimed to be the most comfortable, best to support your body and durable. I really struggled with buying a mattress on the internet without trying it out in the store but after looking at the customer reviews and comments about customer service with the 100 night test we decided to give it try.
Purple was the only truly unique product on the market and the only real new innovation in this industry in a lot of years. Still skeptical, I ordered one of the Purple chair cushions first and we all tried it out. The final determination was made when I set the cushion on our bed for a minute and our French bulldog instantly curled up on it and went to sleep. This dog is a professional sleeper so his endorsement was good enough for us. BTW- you folks at Purple might want to expand into the pet bed market next. I think you’d find a lot of pet-loving buyers there.
I ordered a king mattress on Jan 1, 2017. Purple did communicate that they were backlogged with orders from Black Friday & the Holidays. I told my wife that such demand was a good thing because they are obviously selling a lot of units, many by word of mouth I assume from satisfied customers. They’ve only been in the mattress game for the last 12 months so I’m sure they are dealing with some growth issues. The mattress finally arrived Jan 19. Yes, it was heavy & bulky but it unpacked easily and instantly went to full size when unrolled. No wait, no odor- just instant bed!
I had read some reviews that said it may take up to a week to get use to the feel of this new mattress but not for us. From night one- we absolutely LOVE this mattress.
We are so impressed we ordered one for our son & his wife and they are anxious for it to arrive.
I wrote this review because the vast majority of those I saw during my research were from younger folks and I just wanted to tell my fellow boomers & other more senior folks that this mattress is for us too. Purple cost is in the upper end for the “mattress in the box via internet” market. Maybe one or two others more expensive and then you get to the whole Tempurpedic & Sleep Number thing costing what a small car would. I would argue that the Purple technology is what sets it apart from all of the others and is clearly worth the price (assuming it holds up).
Bottom line- I absolutely recommend this mattress to anyone for who a good night’s sleep is important!

I’m writing my first product review ever because of how disappointed I am in the Purple Mattress and disappointed in myself for believing the false advertisements and pseudo scientific data this company feels comfortable lying to consumers about regarding their product. I had extremely high hopes for this bed after research, watching the companies advertisements, and dropping $1,300.00 of the product, but it is extremely overpriced for how uncomfortable and lacking in any true sleeping advancements. I’ve never been more uncomfortable sleeping and it only is getting worse. The mattress looks lumpy once it has sheets on it and it feels even worse. I wake up ever morning feeling like I was in a 7 hour dog pile and for the first time in my life I dread going to sleep every night. Which is saying a lot as I have narcolepsy and have been sleeping in chairs, floors, old couches, and desks my whole life. I used to love going to bed because with in seconds of my head hitting the pillow I was out. Not anymore, now I’m up writing product reviews, like some disgruntled, middle-aged guy.
The worst is their return policy. After 4 weeks we just could not take it anymore and called Customer Service. We of course got more sales lies about our bodies adjusting to the mattress, like waking up feeling like you are beat to a pulp is your body “adjusting”. We’ve tried a few more weeks and its becoming unbearable. Then the “we’ll come pick it up” promise turned into we need to transport the mattress to Good Will and prove we donated it in order to get a refund. This mattress is so bad, they don’t want it back, Good Will is apparently the only organization that wants it. What a joke!
I’m sure there are several people getting rich off this horrible product, so rich, they obviously could care less about their customers. That is why I would suggest staying as far away from a Purple Mattress as you possibly can.

My husband and I really wanted to like this bed, but as back sleepers who need a firm mattress, this is not for us. We tried sleeping on it for a good 3 weeks and we both had back/neck issues exacerbated. Went back to our very firm previous mattress which is now in the guest room, and felt much better. I liked the feel of the purple topper, but I think the underlying foam is just not dense/firm enough, at least for us. Have started the return process, and I’m not quite sure how UPS is actually going to pick this thing up, it is VERY heavy and floppy, making it difficult to manuver – so if we’re expected to package it somehow it’s going to be a nightmare, let alone move it downstairs alone. No return instructions have been given so far.
