Homemade Fertilizer !

Hi friends....
Hope the previous post served your purpose....
This post is like putting all natural fertilizers and pest control methods at one place...
The following discussed points are about the Homemade Fertilizers and  pesticides that we get naturally possibly within the kitchen's reach.

Let us begin with Coffee Grounds..

The left out coffee grounds can be used as best fertilizer to plants, especially to the Acid Loving Plants, like rose, blueberries etc...just sprinkle the grounds around the base of the plants. Another thing is put these grounds into an old plastic bottle , add water and spray to your garden once a week... For more details about Coffee Grounds click here !

Fish Tank Water.....

Fish tank water has nitrogen and other nutrients essential for plants, so after cleaning the fish tank,  use the water to your plants.

Manure....

If you have pets, like rabbit or guinea pig, then it's obvious that they are put in cages. Manure of these pets can be used as fertilizers to your plants.     After the cages are cleaned the manure collected can be directly added to your garden. Along with the manure, the soil which is collected, acts as mulching and helps plants in retaining moisture and also receives nitrogen.

Eggshell..

Collect all the egg shells, wash them thoroughly and let them dry for a day. Then grind them into a,fine powder and apply to plants. The calcium carbonate present in eggshells is the main ingredient for plants.

Fireplace Ashes....

Fir place ash is rich in potassium. Just sprinkle over garden beds. One important thing is ...fire ash should not be used if the soil is Alkaline.( to know or test the type of soil ...please refer to my previous post on soil pH).

Tea Waste or Tea Grounds..

*Tea waste or tea bags can be used to nourish all types, of plants.
*Tea grounds are used especially for acid loving plants like rose.
* sprinkle tea grounds around the rose bushes and cover it with some mulching. All the nutrients from tea grounds would reach the plants when you water the plants.

*Before potting, place used tea bags at the draining place, this would help in retaining moisture.

* Adding strongly brewed tea to the heap of compost pile, would help in decomposition process and enriching the compost itself.

Milk....

Milk , especially old milk,  which is spoiled or may be ready to spoil, can be mixed with water in 1:4  ratio and applied to plants , once ina week. This will give plants nitrogen and protein .

Epsom Salt...

Epsom salt is rich in sulphate and magnesium that are good for plants. One tbs of Epsom salt with one litre of water can be applied to plants, once in a month.
