I think we all know that I love to entertain- and simple, pretty, effortless entertaining is my favorite. (I sound like a tv commercial, but it is true...) One of my methods of simplifying the craziness for big entertaining events (like Thanksgiving) is to use Oven to table serve ware. I cook the dishes and can easily serve them right from oven instead of putting them in another pretty serve ware dish (less cleanup at end of night!). I purchased different ones in all white over the years so that they will go with whatever color palette I decided on for the event. Although, I would not kick Le Creuset's pink ceramic ovenware out of my kitchen (hint for certain husbands' looking for gifts ;)
However, if I am serving the awesome oven to table pots on my table and not my countertop, I need a trivet and so, I made one!
Materials:
Black Slate Tile- I picked mine up from a local tile place- they gave it to me for free as a sample
Paint Pen - linked is the one I use, but it is usually much cheaper, try your craft store for a better price
Adhesive grippers (or adhesive felt circles, but these are cheaper) - missing from material photo because I suck at blogging (just kidding, I dont suck, I forgot and these things happen and I have accepted I am not perfect)
Decide on your design, I just went to Google Images and searched mud cloth for ideas. Paint using the pen and let dry.
Add grippers to each corner.
Place on table, remove your amazing stuffing from the oven and put it on a Mud Cloth trivet! (P.S. for 6 years now, I have used a Williams Sonoma stuffing recipe & everyone, EVERYONE asks how I did it, my husband wont even let me try another one!)
