Curious how much it would cost you to live in America's most expensive ZIP Codes? As you can imagine, you'll need to be making well into the six figures to comfortably settle into these spots.

Go ahead and break out the calculator, figure out how much you should be spending on rent and see what it'll take to crack this pricey list — or just skip straight to the bottom and find out which cities made our least-expensive list.

ZIP Code rental prices across the country

While the West Coast and Northeast generally have the highest average rent per ZIP Code, there are plenty of more affordable locales in other parts of the country. In fact, you can still rent an apartment in a major U.S. city for around $500. Where? Think more middle of the country (we refuse to call it a fly-over) and down South.

Warning: These codes may crush your budget

Spoiler alert: The country's most expensive ZIP Code is not 90210. It's not even in California. Sure, the Sunshine State takes up nearly half of the top 10, but you'll find a few ZIP Codes on this list that you may not expect.

Here are the 10 most expensive ZIP Codes in America for renters.

10. Marina del Rey, CA (90292)

OK, so no huge surprise here. The California Coast is a sought-after ZIP Code — especially when it's a stone's throw from Los Angeles and lines a sailboat-clad harbor, along with a sandy beach. Make that beaches, as in multiple to choose from.

So, what will it cost you to call Marina del Rey home? “Only" $3,170 per month for a one-bedroom. The good news? That's a significant 15.35 percent decrease from last year when your MDR ZIP Code would have set you back $3,745. See? It's a (relative) bargain.

9. Bellevue, WA (98004)

This high-tech hub is located across Lake Washington from Seattle. In addition to sharing a ZIP Code with neighbors like Postmates and Expedia, you'll also have access to parks, gardens, museums and, oh yeah, those sweeping skyline/mountain/waterfront views.

The price to settle down in 98004 may not be cheap, but like Marina del Rey, the rental trend is moving in the right direction. Last year, a one-bedroom in Bellevue would have cost you just shy of $4K ($3,951 to be exact). This year, rent prices are down a full 16 percent, and while it's still the ninth most expensive ZIP Code in the country, rent prices have dropped to $3,316.

8. Los Angeles, CA (90014)

L.A.'s priciest ZIP Codes aren't just by the coast. In recent years, DTLA has become a white-hot hood, which is probably how 90014 landed on our list. This is the heart of downtown Los Angeles' historic core, a sought-after area a stone's throw from the Fashion District, Little Tokyo and the Staples Center.

Here in the land of super posh high-rise apartments and uber-cool lofts, rent will cost you around $3,365 per month. But hey, chances are pretty decent that your apartment will come with a rooftop pool and killer skyline views.

7. Jersey City, NJ (07310)

Located a quick train ride from N.Y.C., Jersey City boasts a waterfront location on the other side of the Hudson River. That means you get a pretty sweet view of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island — not to mention easy access to the Big Apple.

Perhaps that's why a one-bedroom apartment in 07310 will cost you a cool $3,395 per month, which is up 7.5 percent from a year ago when rent was closer to $3,160. That boils down to almost $850 per digit to live in 07310.

6. Brooklyn, NY (11201)

You'll pay a bit more over the river in New York, where Brooklyn continues to rise in popularity. This particular ZIP Code (11201) is one of New York's hottest neighborhoods. Once an area dominated by office space and little else, residential construction is now booming in downtown Brooklyn.

These days, the commercial center has a decidedly neighborhood vibe. Excellent transportation also makes it easy to get anywhere in Brooklyn — or Manhattan. The price to live in this trendy Brooklyn ZIP Code? A one-bedroom will run you $3,821 per month, but you may be able to get away without putting down a security deposit.

5. Miami, FL (33131)

There's a lot more to downtown Miami and the Brickell neighborhood than nightclubs and office space. Located a short hop from the beach, this urban core has been growing at a rapid clip. But it's not just young professionals and recent grads who want to settle down here. Even families are flocking to downtown Miami.

Here in 33131, a one-bedroom apartment is just shy of $4K at $3,924 per month, which is only a hair higher than last year's price ($3,906). Sound steep? Consider the year-round sunshine, not to mention those killer Cuban sandwiches.

4. San Jose, CA (95134)

The first NoCal city on our list is located in the epicenter of Silicon Valley. Surrounded by rolling hills, this tech hub cozies up to San Francisco Bay. Want to live near Apple, eBay and the like? You're in the right spot. Unfortunately, all that tech money means sky-high rent prices.

If you want to settle down in 95134, you can expect to pay around $3,953 per month for a single bedroom. But hey, that's a whole .49 percent lower than last year's prices. Plus, there are all those tech companies just dying to hire you and hand over a pile of stock options, right? Perhaps it's time to polish up your resume.

3. Playa Vista, CA (90094)

Move over, Silicon Valley, there's a new tech hub in town. Down in SoCal, they like to call Playa Vista Silicon Beach. The temperatures here are warmer (and yes, sunnier) than fellow West Coast tech havens like San Jose and Bellevue.

Did we mention you've got easy access to both the beach and a 600-acre Wetland preserve? From Facebook to Microsoft, all the big dogs have outposts here, which is precisely why prices are on the rise.

It's expensive to live in and around Los Angeles. It's expensive to live near the beach. And it's expensive to live in an area where the biggest names in tech set up shop. With that trifecta in mind, perhaps it's not too surprising that a one-bedroom apartment in 90094 will cost you $4,198.

2. Philadelphia, PA (19130)

SoCal has a pricey reputation, but the most expensive zip codes in America are in the Northeast — just not in New York. The City of Brotherly Love gives you history and charm, plus those meaty cheesesteaks — along with some of the highest rent prices in the country.

Surprised to see Philly in the No. 2 spot? You're probably not alone. You can thank Park Towne Place Premiere Apartment Homes and its $20,000 one-bedroom penthouses for driving up the area's average prices. Ouch.

1. Boston, MA (02215)

Located on the shores of the Charles River, Boston's 02215 zip code is home to Fenway Park and Boston University. Nearly 100 colleges and universities call Boston home, and many of them are located right around this high-priced neighborhood.

Founded in 1630, Boston is one of the country's oldest cities, which may explain why 02215 is the most expensive ZIP Code in America. That's a whole lot of years for rent prices to creep up. This year, however, prices didn't creep so much as jump. In 2019, it'll cost you a cool $5,034 to rent a one-bedroom in this part of Beantown — an 11 percent hike from last year.
