The 6 Best Haunted Houses in Houston

Halloween is still a few weeks away, but it’s never too early to start planning for which of Houston’s best Haunted attractions you’ll be attending this year. With the fright night fast approaching, we gathered our favorite picks for the spookiest haunted houses in H-Town.

Creepy Hollow

This is a haunted house fan favorite. It’s been voted the spookiest in the state. So much so, that there are many adults who actually can’t make it all the way through. This house of horrors is so scary, you may need to think twice about bringing the little ones (although they might be able to handle the fright factor more than the adults!). It’s packed with ghouls, spooky clowns, and meat hook wielding zombies, all guaranteed to make you scream! Don’t miss this one!

Fearshire Farms

Yes, it’s a farm, but the only thing it produces are screams! It’s been featured on the Travel Channel, and it showcases some fantastic and terrifying attractions.

This is an actual house from the turn of the last century located in a cornfield. Can it get any scarier? Yes, it can, as there’s also the original family cemetery on the grounds! This is some genuine haunted house fun for the entire family, where you’ll enjoy such attractions as the “Fearsome’s Farm House”, “Dead-End Corn Maze” and “Honkey’s Fun House”.

Houston Scream Fest

This is more than just a haunted house – it’s a veritable haunted festival. It features ten attractions as well as live music every night. Horror movies are shown outdoors, and there’s even a dance floor where you can rock out to “Thriller”. Be sure to check out the “Zombie Paintball Shoot”. This is some Halloween fun that won’t have you running for the exit, so if you’re of the faint of heart but still want to party on all Hollow’s Eve, you’ll want to head to Scream Fest.

Scream World

This is another in the “haunted festival” category, and at Scream World, they go all out. There are five attractions, all guaranteed to spook you silly. You can check out “The Swamp”, widely considered the most high-tech haunted attraction in Houston, with elaborate and sophisticated animatronic zombies and ghoulish half-dead creatures. Then head to “Jake’s Slaughterhouse” – the utterly horrifying meatpacking plant, replete with rotting animal bodies and all sorts awful stuff that should never be found in a meat market.

A creative take on the haunted house, Scream World also features the “Edge of Darkness”, with features decadent scenes from the underworld of our urban society. Test your horror tolerance in the hospital room, the Boiler room, and the morgue. Scream World also has two other attractions that don’t need any description, the “Clown Asylum Maze” and the “Zombie Graveyard”. Scream World is a true horror wonderland.

Nightmare on the Bayou

This is a Haunted house that showcases its “Ghost House” and “Bayou Cemetery”. They’ll be open whole Halloween week, and you can be sure to get your fright on. The Bayou holds all sorts of creepy swamp-ish ghouls that will have you at your knees begging for mercy!

Galveston Haunted Ghost Tours

If you’re in Galveston or looking to head to the Gulf this Halloween, you won’t be without haunted house options. When you think about, Galveston’s old town is ripe for fright, and there a few ways you can explore the history of the city with a haunted angle. Check out Ghost Tours Texas, Texas Ghost Tours, and Dash Beardsley Ghost tours to learn more about haunted house options in the Galveston.

These are the creepiest, spookiest and most horrific haunted houses and extravaganzas in the Houston area. Break out your Nightmare on Elm Street regalia and hit these haunts this Halloween.
