Dirty Laundry

Yesterday was a powerful day in the cosmic soul system.  We began the day with a Lunar Eclipse and Supermoon/Blood Moon and ended the day with the Blue Moon and we all know the moon is a woman with a powerful pull on the atmosphere.

I took the day off of Nashville Public Schools as I suspected the moon's gravitational effects on the crazy is well documented in fictional history that I chose not to test that in reality by walking into their prisons, whoops I mean schools.   So after a great day walking through parks and coming home to cook for the rest of the week as we are expecting snow.  Nashville does one thing well, flip their nut when it snows.  They are crazy here so the moon cannot be blamed for that one.

When I cook I keep the news on as I can listen to the current events and bust out laughing without needing to actually watch as well local news here is crime reports, followed by traffic reports and then weather all under the guise of keeping us safe.  Keeping us afraid is really the intent here then it enables compliance and keeps those churches full.

And then the announcement of our Mayor's extra marital affair with her security detail.  I literally laughed out loud and said you go girl then I I sat down to watch the report.  Well this was not the Ryan Gosling dude of my dreams but in fact a middle aged married bespectacled cop who had the gig for the last Mayor as well.  Could someone explain to me why Mayors travel the globe with security?  I mean do people of Paris give one flying fuck about the Mayor of Nashville? And what in the fuck is she going to Paris for?  We need better Macron's as in Cookies and not Presidents?

Nashville electing a woman, one who is aggressive and highly political is shocking.  Even Seattle was behind that eight ball and finally elected a woman this year following the scandal of the first Gay Mayor for who  it was Time's Up for his history of predatory behavior like Roy Moore..  This Mayor is also a Lesbian but I am pretty sure she will have no problems with any sexual scandals as you need to know Lesbians to understand that reference.

So when the local media morons tried to connect Mayor Berry's affair with MeToo I busted a gut. We have had Judges, Legislators and other public figures of late be scandalized with one sexual affair after another and used their position and access to cover up suicides and the like the last few years so to equate this is hilarious.  No he reported to the Police and was assigned to her detail.  Did she pull strings or force the head of the Department to do so? Did she blackmail the Cop like the Governor of 50 Shades of Missouri into silence?  Funny he is not quitting so once again we have a double standard when it comes to sexual indiscretions.

Hey I don't give a shit about her fucking her cop but I do question why any Mayor of a Tier B city traveling to Athens, Paris, etc.   Unless that is Athens Georgia and Paris Tennessee I don't get it.   I may get the Mayor of New York City doing so but that is about it frankly.  Seriously what the fuck is that about?  And a Mayor needs a protection detail to go to Utah and San Francisco alone?  Why and what is that about?  Do you just take an aide and frankly are you that famous? Who is this woman, Beyonce?

**My favorite pic so far is that when the Mayor was attending the memorial service for her son who died last year, another victim of the opioid crisis,  this cop was waking behind her and her husband carrying a box of tissues.  Again, was he really needed to be on duty that day or was that him being a good person and not billing the City for showing support?  He was also the one who had to tell her that her son was dead by coming to her home in the early morning hours and waking her and her husband with the news.   This is the kind of nutfuck shit that goes on here.

So ask your local Mayor's office if they travel out of state and why, what is the purpose? Who are they taking on these trips and what is the cost of the taxpayer?   We are seeing this now in Washington DC across many of Trump's team with excessive costly trips, private planes, etc,  so now we know where this shit starts from, all politics are local.  And you never know when you are going to need a ride or  lose your keys.

And what does it mean for this woman's career?  Hell yes as we are a City divided when it comes to many issues, gender is one of many.  But I suspect she will not be re-elected here as she is a polarizing figure with massive missteps regarding the City Hospital issue and now the upcoming transit vote; Of which I am voting yes despite the fact that is a overly grand plan that truly is more about the neglect and lack of upgrades to a city that desperately needs infrastructure.  Do I think most of it will happen? No, duh I live here.  They are incapable of follow through on most things unless it has sports in the title.  This is a city vested in history of race and money and transit serves the poor and largely a community of color and that is why transit, affordable housing, public hospitals are a no go here; Soccer stadiums. Football Stadiums, Baseball Parks, Hockey Arenas yes,  as the rich can sit in the good seats away from the great unwashed, that is how we roll here.

I am afraid the Mayor was not part of the Soccer push so unless she can get Amazon to come here, which again she seems disconnected from,  her professional life is over.  But nope she need not resign just be marked with the scarlet letter here and throw herself into church and prayer. They love that here it is the only activity they do on a collective basis.

But fuck me I don't care about whose getting laid but I am not sure why any Mayor is traveling with security anywhere out of the state, period.  But there is something comforting that women are just like men when it comes to sex and power.   But this was consensual and stupid just like anyone else who does the same the difference is our dirty laundry is dried out in the basement out of site.

Nashville mayor Megan Barry admits to having an affair with the officer who ran her police detail

by Eli Rosenberg  The Washington Post January 31 2018

The mayor of Nashville apologized Wednesday for having an affair with the head of her security detail, a police officer.

Megan Barry, 54, a Democrat who was elected mayor of Tennessee’s bustling capital in 2015, disclosed the affair to the media.

“Today I acknowledged publicly that I have engaged in an extramarital affair with the former head of my security detail,” Barry said in a statement. “I accept full responsibility for the pain I have caused my family and his. I am so sorry to my husband Bruce, who has stood by me in my darkest moments and remains committed to our marriage, just as I am committed to repairing the damage I have done.”

The Tennessean identified the officer as Sgt. Robert Forrest Jr. of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. Their affair began in mid-2016, the newspaper reported.

Forrest, 58, a 31-year veteran of the department who was in charge of the Barry’s security detail, had submitted his retirement papers in January month. His last day was Wednesday, reports said. He had been in charge of at least two other mayors’ security details.

Barry’s time at the helm of Nashville has raised her profile, as the city continues to grow in size and stature.

She has been considered a rising political star, and the disclosure comes at a fraught time for Barry. A contentious $5.4 billion mass-transit project she has backed is up for voter approval in May. Last year, she lost her 22-year-old son Max to a drug overdose. Forrest was the officer who broke the news to her, according to the Tennessean.

The affair has also drawn scrutiny to the overtime the officer accrued while managing her detail.

According to the newspaper, Forrest accompanied Barry on trips to Paris, Athens, Washington, New York, Denver, Oakland and other cities in the past year.

Forrest racked up around $33,000 in expenses for the trips and more than $50,000 in overtime in 2017 on top of an $84,500 salary, the Tennessean reported.

Nine of the trips were only Barry and Forrest, including a Greece trip in September, according to the newspaper.

“I deeply regret that my professional relationship with Mayor Barry turned into a personal one,” Forrest said in a statement provided to the newspaper. “This has caused great pain for my wife, my family, friends and colleagues. At no time did I ever violate my oath as a police officer or engage in actions that would abuse the public trust.”

Barry answered questions about the trips at a news conference Wednesday night, describing them as a routine consequence of the itinerary for a busy mayor and her security detail.

“I think you can look at my schedule since the time I came into office. I have had a very aggressive schedule,” Barry said. “Every single one of them was a business-related trip.”

She said she and Forrest are no longer seeing each other.

“This is a bad day, and there’s going to be more bad days, but this is not my worst day,” Barry told the Tennessean. “And I know the difference between a mistake — which is what I made and I fully own — and a tragedy. And this is not a tragedy. And I want to regain the trust of Nashvillians. And I will continue to serve.”

The newspaper reported that the affair had also raised questions about whether Forrest could be considered a subordinate of Barry professionally, potentially calling into question other issues of propriety around their relationship.

John Cooper, a councilman who the Tennessean said was a regular critic of the mayor, said that Forrest “clearly worked for the mayor,” as a subordinate.

“That kind of relationship is a problem anywhere in Metro government, especially if taxpayer funds were used for their personal travel,” Cooper said, according to the newspaper.

Barry maintained that Forrest worked for the police and was not a direct subordinate.

A statement from the city’s police chief, Steve Anderson, said that he did not know of the affair with Barry until Tuesday, WSMV reported.

“Chief Anderson has nothing to add to what Mayor Barry has already said and will say later this evening. While he knew that Sgt. Forrest gave notice of his retirement on January 17, he was unaware of the issue involved until yesterday,” the statement from the police department said.

On Wednesday night, Barry apologized again for her actions.

“I am deeply sorry,” she said. “And I am embarrassed and I am sad. And I am so sorry for all the pain that I have caused my family and his family. And I know that God will forgive me but that Nashville doesn’t have to. I hope that I can earn their trust and I can earn your trust back.”
