Below is my grandmother's version of the original toll house cookie recipe. This is a small batch recipe from who knows how many decades ago. If you want to make 3-5 dozen cookies for a special event, then search the internet for a different recipe as doubling her recipe might not produce your desired results. Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies
(Makes approximately 2 dozen)
Ingredients:
1/2 cup margarine
6 Tablespoons brown sugar
6 Tablespoons white sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon water
1 cup + 2 Tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup nuts
6 ounces of chocolate chips
Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In large bowl, cream together margarine and sugars until smooth and creamy.
- Mix in egg, vanilla, and water.
- In separate bowls, sift flour and baking soda.
- Add flour mixture slowly to the wet ingredients, mixing to blend.
- Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
- Drop by spoonfuls on greased cookie sheets.
- Bake until light brown, about 12 to 15 minutes.
