Ingredients:

Dough

  • ½ cup of warm milk
  • ½ cup of orange juice
  • 1 tbsp of instant dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp of white granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 3 tbsp of salted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 3-3¼ cups of all-purpose flour

Filling

  • ½ cup of salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup of white granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp of orange zest

Orange Glaze

  • 4 ounces of cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup of salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp of orange extract, optional
  • 1-2 tbsp of orange juice

Directions:

Step 1

In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the warm milk, orange juice, yeast, sugar, salt, butter, and eggs, then beat them until combined, add the flour, and beat them over low speed using a dough hook. Once incorporated, increase the speed to medium, then once the dough is soft and tacky, transfer it to a lightly greased mixing bowl, and cover it with a towel. Set it aside and let the dough rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 2

Roll the dough into a 12×18-inch rectangle, then in a small mixing bowl, mix the butter, sugar, and orange zest until uniform, and spread it on top of the dough evenly leaving about ½ inch around the edges. Tightly roll up the dough lengthwise until it becomes a log, then using a serrated knife, cut the dough into 12 even slices, and place them in a 9×13-inch baking pan lightly greased with nonstick cooking spray or butter.

Step 3

Cover them and allow them to rise for about 30 to 45 minutes, then place them in a preheated oven at 350°F, and allow them to bake for about 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned on top. In a large mixing bowl, whip together the cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy, then add the powdered sugar, orange extract, and orange juice, and continue to whip until soft and spreadable consistency. Pour the glaze over the baked rolls and spread it evenly, then serve, and enjoy!
