If you’re looking for a great scrap buster project to try this weekend, then you’ve come to the right tutorial because here’s Carol Thelen on YouTube to show you how to make this beautiful quilt block. It’s super fun to piece together and you can make them look as scrappy as you want, I guarantee you it will look absolutely lovely. I also highly recommend this for beginners in quilting because this will be a great project for them to practice their skills on. Proceed to read the instructions down below and while you’re at it watch the video tutorial as well to learn how now. Enjoy quilting!
Materials:
- Dark print fabric
- Light print fabric
- Background fabric
- Ruler
- Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
- Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
- Needle and thread
- Iron, for pressing
- Sewing machine
- Pattern (Click here to download the pattern)
Directions:
Download the pattern, then cut the fabric according to size as required in the pattern, and start stitching the strips and squares together. Stitch together 1 dark square and 1 background square, 1 light small rectangle and 1 dark square, 1 light small rectangle and 1 dark small rectangle, 1 light large rectangle and 1 dark small rectangle, and 1 light and 1 dark large rectangle. Make sure to press the seams open, then lay out the pieces, and assemble them into a block making sure to refer to the pattern guide. Stitch them together one at a time, then press the seams as you go, and you’re done!
