Carnelian: A stone of intensity

Carnelian is a stunning red-orange Stone that resonates with a passionate energy and is all about self-confidence. It is made of a silica mineral that takes its color from iron oxide, and has a vitreous luster.

This material was easy to cut into jewelry and talismans. It was also commonly used to make seals, because wax doesn’t stick to carnelian.  In the Middle Ages, carnelian was used by alchemists when boiling stone to release energy of other gemstones.

Carnelian holds a truly intense energy. It has been believed that the stones are pieces of the sun that have descended to earth and are endowed with strong healing properties. Also, carnelian has been worn in cameos in the belief that it would ward off insanity and depression.
