Snayniyeh Recipe

Snayniyeh is a middle eastern countries’ dessert that is made with wheat berries, sugar and nuts. It is also called Barbara, Ashoura. It is a popular and traditional dish in Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan and Syria. It is eaten on special occasions like- Eid, Christmas and Baby’s first tooth party. So the Lebanese traditional dish snayniyeh recipe is-

Ingredients

  1. Wheat berries / Peeled wheat ( 3 cups )
  2. Water ( 11 cups ) ( for cooking )
  3. Rose water ( 6 tbsp )
  4. Sugar ( 8 tbsp or as your taste )
  5. Walnut
  6. Almond nut
  7. Raisins

Methods

  • Firstly, soak the wheat berries with the water for 7 hours.
  • Then, cut the nuts into small pieces.
  • Then, put the soaked wheat berries, water in the pan and cook it until the wheat berries are cooked perfectly.
  • Then, add the sugar, rose water to the pan and cook it for 3 minutes.
  • Then, snayniyeh will be made.
  • Lastly, serve this Lebanese snayniyeh with walnut, almond nuts and raisins.
