An Inside Look at East Nashville | Coffee, Restaurants & Things To Do

Coffee Shops

All People Coffee: Relatively new Black-owned Coffee Shop and beverage hall with self-serve local beer on tap, wine, specialty coffee, and small bites.

Barista Parlor: Specialty coffee shop with a cult following in a former transmission shop focused on ethical sourcing and sweetness in roasting.

Crema: Small “takeaway” cafe with limited seating serving coffee from this beloved local roaster and coffee shop with a loyal following.

Dose: Beloved coffee shop with a bakery and full-service kitchen serving breakfast and lunch seven days a week, plus a bar program with rotating craft beers, wine and cocktails.

Elegy: Small coffee shop focused on to-go orders, with outdoor seating and a coffee van that pops up at various locations throughout town.

Flora + Fauna: Adorable locally owned coffee shop in Highland Yards with a focus on all things local and seasonal, serving a simple food and beverage menu.

Frothy Monkey: All-day cafe, specialty coffee roaster and wholesale bakery with locations in Nashville, Franklin, Chattanooga and Birmingham.

Hanna Bee: Coffee-cart-turned-brick-and-mortar with a bright and light interior founded in 2020 by a husband-and-wife team.

Hearts: All-day, Australian-inspired breakfast, brunch and lunch spot with a wide selection of coffee and non-coffee drinks, including cocktails, smoothies and more.

Retrograde: Neighborhood coffee shop with house and regionally roasted coffees, plus pastries from Dozen Bakery.

Restaurants

Audrey: Reservation-only flagship restaurant of James Beard Award-winning Chef Sean Brock, inspired by his Appalachian roots and traditions of the rural South, serving a prix fixe menu.

Butcher & Bee: Hip eatery originating in Charleston serving inventive, seasonal cuisine made with local ingredients.

Cafe Roze: Bright and airy all-day cafe serving elevated American classics, plus coffee in the morning and cocktails at night.

Edley’s Bar-B-Que: Beloved BBQ joint with a variety of slow-smoked dishes and traditional Southern sides.

Five Points: Pizzeria with a walk-up window and indoor seating serving massive thin-crust pizzas, available by the pie or by the slice.

Folk: Stunning space with exposed brick walls serving an inventive seasonal Italian menu focused on pizza and an extensive wine menu.

Hunters Station: Food hall home to some of the city’s best casual spots, including The Grilled Cheeserie, Hugh-Baby’s BBQ & Burger Shop, Vui’s Kitchen and more, with dog-friendly outdoor seating and a bar with local beers on tap.

Joyland: Casual and colorful counter-serve spot from Chef Sean Brock with burgers, fried chicken, biscuits, shakes and fries.

Lockeland Table: Neighborhood eatery in a former dry goods store with a Southern-focused menu and wood-fired pizzas, offering an amazing “Community Hour” Monday–Saturday from 4–6 p.m.

lou: Romantic eatery with shared plates, a weekend brunch and natural wines, housed in a quaint historic white house.

Lyra: Modern Middle Eastern restaurant with a comfortable interior and spacious outdoor patio.

The Fox Bar: Swanky cocktail bar and lounge crafting imaginative cocktails and shareable plates.

Inglewood Lounge: Down-to-earth lounge with a quirky, comfortable feel, serving a simple menu with American plates and craft cocktails.

East Nashville Night Market: Fun free market on Friday nights happening mid-August through mid-September with 60+ vendors, live music, drinks, and food trucks.

Music City Hot Chicken Festival: Free annual event on July 4th celebrating hot chicken, with live music, cold beer, and a variety of local food vendors, with proceeds benefiting the Friends of Shelby Park and Bottoms.

Tomato Art Fest: Free two-day, costume-friendly event in Five Points celebrating the beloved tomato and all things art, with a variety of vendors, a parade, live entertainment, food and drinks, an art show, contests and more.
