Introduction

The Peperomia Rana Verde is an easy to look after plant, and while small in size, it stands out due to its bold dark green matte leaves. It grows wildly in South and Central America, the plant gets its name from it’s leaves, rana verde means ‘green frog’ in Spanish.

Light Needs

Give them bright indirect sunlight if you can. They will be ok in medium indirect too. No direct sun though.

How Often To Water Peperomia Rana Verde

They are prone to root rot so make sure the soil is completely dry before you water them again. Check the soil each week and do not be tempted to over do it. Make sure you don’t leave the plant sitting in excess water in the external container.

Tip: under water these plants rather than overwater them. They are tolerant of most conditions, but will get root rot easily if you let them sit in soggy soil. For the same reasons you should make sure you tip out any water from the bottom saucer after watering, and the plant should be in a well draining mix with some perlite.

Fertilizer

Give them a very well diluted balanced feed every 3 or 4 weeks in spring and summer.

Soil

They need a well draining medium to avoid the issues with root rot. You can use a mix of 75% potting compost and 25% perlite.

When to Repot Peperomia Rana Verde

they can grow quite quickly so check the roots once or twice a year and give them a bigger pot if they are starting to get overcrowded.

Humidity

Give them 50-60% humidity and they will thank you for it.

Temperature

A good daytime range is 18-25°C (64-77°F), and a minimum of 10°C (50°F) at night.

How to Propagate Peperomia Rana Verde

They can be easily propagated with stem cuttings and rooted in moist soil. Try to keep them humid with a bag over the pot (don’t seal it as you want some air to be able to move in and out to avoid rot). They should root n a month or two, when you can pot them up to their own pot.

They can flower in summer sometimes The flowers themselves are very unremarkable, but the stalks that the flowers can look striking: they are long thin stalks that rise up over the plant.
