For example, I’ve talked about safes before when considering waterproof safes or fireproof safes. However, sometimes you want a small Safe to keep some valuables inside. Even though you don’t have the space to accommodate a much larger item, you still don’t want to get stuck with something so cheap it breaks down after a few yanks on the handle.

So in that thought, I’m going to present you with a set of highly affordable yet small safes to select the one that fits best for your needs. This small safe selection is hand-picked for the highest quality at the lowest possible price.

I define “small” as products with around one cubic foot (about 28 liters) loading capacity.

So now, let’s dive in to see the pros and cons of each one!

Honeywell Small Safe & Door Lock – 5105 Low Profile Steel Security Safe

The Honeywell security home safe is one of my favorites, which allows you to pack in up to 1.14 cubic feet. You can see how it looks once placed in your closet. The Honeywell brand carries a good reputation throughout the years, with excellent construction and finishes.

It’s not the easiest to install, but overall the ratings are pretty good. You won’t find anything better for the size and price range. It works similarly to those found in hotels. Each time you open the door, you set up a new combination. It also comes with an emergency key if you forget the last combination you used.

It measures 15.8 x 19.5 x 8 inches (40 cm x 49.5 cm x 20 cm), and weights 32.1 pounds (14.5 Kg.).

ADIMO Small Safe Box with 1.23 Cubic Feet

The Adimo is slightly larger than the Honeywell, at 1.23 cubic feet. However, it’s a lot lighter. In addition, it has some added features, such as having an audible alarm in case it’s opened and requires a combination of using a code and key to open it. This key/keypad combination increases security. However, it can become a nuisance if you need to open it regularly since you’ll always need the master key.

With security in mind, this box is quite sturdy, the materials are top-notch, and you’ll feel the high-quality material used in its construction right away.

It measures 16.54 x 13 x 14 inches (42 cm x 33 cm x 35 cm), and weights 26.5 pounds (12 Kg.).

TIGERKING Digital Security Small Safe Box for Home / Office / Hotel

Like the Adimo, this small safe also sports the key/keypad combination to open up the product. It also comes with an alarm if three attempts to open the safe without success.

This small safe is the least expensive, carries itself very well, and has excellent reviews from customers.

It measures 14.8 x 11.8 x 11.8 inches (37.5cm x 30cm x 30cm), and weights 28.1 pounds (12.5 Kg.).

SentrySafe SFW123GDC Fireproof Small Safe and Waterproof Safe

Check Price on Amazon

There’s a reason I choose the SentrySafe for last. It’s a lot pricier than the others, even at 1.23 cubic feet. The reason for that is because it’s both Fireproof and Waterproof!

Its fireproof rating can withstand up to an hour at 1700°F (926°C). That’s scorching hot!

The waterproof rating says you can cover up to 8 inches of water (20 cm) for 24 hours and keep its internals dry.

It measures 19.3 x 16.3 x 17.8 inches (49 cm x 41 cm x 45 cm), and weights 87 pounds (39 Kg.).

This model is the beast of the small safe department! Super sturdy, heavy (much heavier than the other models presented), and very highly rated by most customers.

The price tag is way more pricey than previous models, but that’s because of the extra security and features. So if you are looking for that extra security and durability, this is the one to buy!

Why choose a small safe for your home?

There are plenty of reasons you might want to go for a smaller safe rather than a medium or a larger one. First of all, is the convenience. Most people don’t have lots of valuables that need safekeeping. Mainly some cash, a couple of jewelry pieces, and some small vital documents.

Some may even use them to store a small gun. However, we wholeheartedly recommend going best with a specialty gun safe. That model comes with other features, like opening a snap during a break-in or coming with a silent keypad combination.

It’s also easier to conceal a small safe than a big one. You can put it on a shelf inside your closet or perhaps behind a hidden panel in the wall.

Do small safes get mold as the bigger ones?

Mold comes from concentrated moisture trapped inside the safe for extended periods. Unfortunately, it will happen, depending on where you live, how tight the safe is (waterproof safes are air-tight), and if you put any moisture-absorbing item inside.

A simple way to prevent mold or moisture is by putting small silica gel bags inside. You can also try some rice to save some money, although it’s not as effective.

Anything else to consider before buying a small safe?

Sizing is essential. You have to know if it will fit whatever item you want to store safely or accommodate specific document sizes like A4 or legal paper.

Furthermore, not all safes are equal. For example, if you plan to store jewelry in a safe, we recommend some specific models that come with extra features.
