Know About Important Air Conditioner Parts

There are many parts in an Air Conditioner that makes it complex like a big machine with different parts and have one motto to produce something. The result of cold air while we talk about the air conditioners. Till the time the air conditioner is generating cool air, we even do not realize that there are so many components working for us to make our air cool and comfortable. In fact, when you dig inside the air conditioner you will find an enormous trail of components working together smoothly.

Let us understand the components and working mechanisms and their individual role.

The primary functional part of an Air Conditioner

An air conditioner has four primary parts in the system. The expansion valve, compressor, condenser, and the evaporator are four main parts of AC. All the above air conditioner parts function by coordinating internally and have a particular work to get it done.

Evaporator Coil

In the small-scale split air conditioner, the indoor unit is the place where it is located. In a central air conditioner system, a Coil is found in an air handler. Cool air which is flowing through the vein gets cool to a lower temperature just earlier than enters evaporator coils. The main function of the evaporator coil is to freeze the hot air that is coming from the room as hot air and struck with the coil. So, whenever hot air from your room is fetched by your HVAC unit, it throws toward the evaporator coil, which removes heat from the air and makes the coil cooler. There is one fan placed behind the evaporator coin and that pushes cool air towards to exhaust side and makes the room cool.

The material used to manufacture evaporators is copper, steel as well as aluminum. The best and preferred material to make the coil is copper because it has better thermal conductivity and words more efficiently than other materials.

You should try to keep your coils always clean, as time passes, dust and other malicious air may hurt your productivity. A high amount of dirt when jellifies at that line, blocks the way and results in leakage of refrigerant. To prevent jellification of dust air filters are there but those filters need cleaning at intervals of a few months regularly for best results.

Compressor

That the most important part of any air conditioner and can say the heart of the AC is the compressor itself. The outdoor unit of split AC and central air conditioning system is the compressor. The highest energy-consuming component of any air conditioner is its compressor and by costing it is the most expensive part for manufacturers.

The main motive of the compressor is to compress the refrigerant of the air conditioner, and that heat created by the vein is pushed towards the compressor as a liquid form. Since the air-cooling procedure gets going, the compressor gets cool and restarts again to exhaust the heat coming from the inside unit.

The volume of the compressor differs as the indoor unit capacity of the air conditioner varies. One should take care of this most valuable part of AC by regular servicing it in which experts check its leakage, by doing the dusting and checking contamination. Experts also check if the condenser coil is clear or not and oils the AC units.

Condenser Coil

The condenser coil has a different working method than the evaporator. It fetches heat from the unit and throws it towards the outside unit and ultimately the environment. The place of the coil is at the compressor unit.

There is a fan blow to keep the hot air away from the evaporator coil to through towards the condenser coil. This is how the evaporator coil and condenser coil work opposite each other. If you try and stand outside the compressor, it will through heat, and you can even feel it clearly. Heat is throw away by the condenser coil while changing it to the refrigerant.

Expansion Valve

There is one more part in between the condenser and evaporator coil. That small component is called an expansion valve. Since the refrigerant is converted to liquid form, it won’t hold heat anymore. The refrigerant in the expansion valve is converted into the air after passing through high pressure and gets cool. This is how the cooling refrigerant is pushed towards the evaporator coil and repeats the air-cooling process again.

How Do Air Conditioner Parts Work Together?

We all now have a rough idea and working mechanism of all main parts of air conditioners, it is important to understand how they work as a team.

First, we will see the cooling procedure. Compress does its work and compresses the refrigerant to convert it to high pressurized hot liquid. The liquid passes through the condenser coils and the big fan helps to make it cool. After that expansion valve comes into the picture, which continuously increases the refrigerant, and creates the cooling, low-pressurized gas. This gas that is cooled down is exhausting and makes our room temperature cool. This process is executed in evaporator coils. The coil fetches the cool and the fan inside the inside unit throws the heat again to take down the temperature.

What are extra AC Unit Parts?

We discussed the main AC parts but there are some others as well.

Air Filter

The air conditioner filter is like a dirt holder, gathering the direct and dust, and any other air molecules far from the AC. The indoor unit holds the air filter.

Refrigerant

We have been talking about refrigerants many times in the process, and you must be eager to know what it is. It is a particle that is a primary thing to generate cooling. It flows inside a tube of copper or aluminum and may be inside the air conditioner. Also, it has a certain capability that creates cool and hot air that flows inside the room.

Fan

The main function of a fan is to rotate the air from one part to another and to throw the cold air toward your room. Fans are necessary to save your outside unit from too much heat by flowing it away.

Thermostat

The thermostat is capable and has the responsibility to maintain room temperature as per your requirement. This is the device from where you connect to your AC unit for your cooling requirement. it turns AC on and off to maintain the room temperature at best. It has sensors by default for measuring temperature and humidity to read rooms’ current conditions.

There are some smart thermostats, there are functions coming to control the temperature of AC by using your smartphone, and can set pre-defined commands like schedule or geofencing. Some ACs come with a remote control that has the same features as the thermostat. Free Estimate!
