Krishna Janmashtami 2022: Date, Time, Puja Vidhi, Rituals

The tradition of celebrating the festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami has been going on for centuries. According to mythology, the people of Mathura were stricken by the atrocities of Kansa, the king of Mathura. It is believed that there was a prophecy about Kansa, in which Kansa's sister Devaki's eighth son was said to be killed.

Due to this fear, he imprisoned his sister Devaki and brother-in-law Vasudev in the dungeon, and Kansa kept killing every child of his sister. Lord Krishna was born as the eighth child of sister Devaki to get rid of Kansa's atrocities. After which, he killed Kansa and liberated the people of Mathura from his atrocities.
