But if you struggle to get in don’t be too downbeat as it will also be what you do once you are there as some of the work will be project based you can showcase your talents from any university. So if you don’t get in to your first choice course try again, apply through UCAS Extra or clearing and don’t give up if it’s definitely for you.

There are actually several different specialisms in the field of architecture and this is no different than any other professional industry in that most architects principally work in one area alone. You have residential architects involved in housing and residential buildings. Commercial or public architecture is where a large government or other public use buildings are being designed, this can be a particularly creative field to work in. Industrial architecture is similar but a bit more boring and it’s actually suggested that civil engineering is more appropriate for this type of work. A landscape architect is a bit different as well, designing parks and outdoor spaces including all the structures within them.
