The Eddy Plate started with a question: how can we create an everyday plate that cultivates stillness and will stand the test of time? The makers at the studio in Burlington, North Carolina, embraced the challenge, utilizing a simple, traditional pottery-manufacturing process that dates to the 18th century. The result? A highly functional, uncomplicated piece that holds up to the rigors of everyday use, and also makes a statement. Available in three sizes and four colors.

Each plate is the result of patient labor and attention to detail, and sustainability is emphasized at every step. Starting from a handcrafted mold and ending in an energy-efficient kiln, the deliberate seven-step production process allows the studio’s makers to exercise control over the aspects they want to influence and pull back when they want to let chance work its magic. Sunlight and rainwater inscribe an indelible trace of the local environment on each Eddy Plate, and leftover clay scraps are reused to minimize waste.

The goal, as with every Edtoba product, is to have a positive impact on the environment and the surrounding community.
