Expecting a baby in a one-bedroom apartment? No worries!

How exciting to find out that you are expecting! Once the excitement has settled in, you might start thinking about the logistics of welcoming a little one, including this fundamental question: where will we put the baby? This is a concern that many urban couples face. Not only do many couples rent because buying a home can be too expensive, they also often rent small flats. If you can afford to buy a home, chances are it is still quite small, often just one bedroom. So with this in mind, how can you turn your one-bedroom apartment into a lovely cocoon for your new baby?
A brilliant solution is to convert a walk-in closet or a sun room into a space for your baby by building your own made-to-measure nursery.
First, you will need to make sure you can install a baby-changing table, which is the key element of your nursery, and a baby bed if possible. In order to save space, don’t hesitate to build a foldable baby-changing table, that you can install anywhere, even on a cupboard.
Once you have measured your space, you will need to remove everything from the closet or sun room that will not go in your new nursery. Next, to convert this space, you will need to install the baby-changing table and the bed. It is also a good idea to include as many shelves and storage units as you can because babies come with a lot of stuff!
To make this new space cosier, you can paint it with bright colours (white, pale pink, pale yellow…) or select some fun wallpaper, that you can update later, as well as choosing some nice lights. You’ll want to make sure you also include a comfy chair and a reading lamp in the space for those nights that you’ll sit up with your baby.
To really add value to this area, consider including a small sink to wash your hands and your baby. To add a sink in this sort of space, I would recommend using a product from Saniflo. Their pumps are perfect for small spaces and can be installed in areas that are far away from the sewerage mains. Have a look at their website for more information.
And there you go! An easy to follow way to convert your closet or sun room into a lovely nursery ready to welcome your new baby.
