Naples Ranked Happiest Place to Retire

A lot of people choose Florida as a retirement destination, but to truly live in retirement bliss, you may want to take your search to Naples. According to a recent website study, Naples is one of the top cities in the nation in terms of the “Happiest Places to Retire”. The SoFi.com website came up with the ranking, which compared data on 200 of the nation’s largest metropolitan areas. When all was said and done, Naples came in at two, behind the Town of Barnstable on Cape Cod. The personal finance website took into consideration things like county health rankings and healthcare access, overall well-being, and a city’s walk score. Analysts also considered the cost of living, among other things. As for Naples, the website pointed out the appeal of warmer weather and the opportunity to live by the water. SoFi also mentioned there’s no personal income tax in Florida, and Naples has a “fairly reasonable” cost of living. A high life expectancy is also a big plus. In fact, the website pointed out at more than 86 years old, Naples has the highest life expectancy of any of the 200 cities analyzed for the study. Surprisingly, just one other Florida city made it in the list of the top 20. Just up the coast from Naples, North Port came in at number six. It’s hardly the first time the City of Naples has received high marks in terms of retirees. In the past, Naples ranked second on the list of the “Best Places to Retire”. For that list, US News looked at 150 of the largest US metro areas. They considered housing affordability, value, the tax rate, and the quality of healthcare. It certainly doesn’t hurt that living in Naples means easy access to white sand beaches, shops, art galleries, museums, and cultural attractions, either. The city also boasts top restaurants, nearby watersports, and dozens of local golf communities.
