The Artiss Standing Desk is an excellent value piece of furniture, I have been able to experience first-hand the benefits of the product and some of its drawbacks too. So, in this review, I will share my experience with the Artiss Standing Desk and what makes it stand out from the competition.

Artiss Stand-Up Desk: Quick Overview

Artiss has a sleek and contemporary design. The desktop is made from high-quality particleboard, and the steel frame makes it durable and sturdy. The standout feature of the Artiss Standing Desk is its price, which is almost half the price of high-end standing desks like the UpDown Pro Desk. Although not as feature-rich as the expensive models, it offers basic height adjustment and other essential features, which are enough for most users.

The Artiss Standing Desk has dual motors, which provide robust and reliable operation for smooth quiet transitions. The digital control panel lets you easily adjust the desk's height according to your needs and preferences. You can choose from three preset heights. Then there is also a reminder system that you can use to prompt you to switch between sitting and standing.

The rubber footings also ensure a stable and secure desktop on uneven surfaces. Artiss' great value-for-money product makes transitioning from sitting to standing easier. Overall, it is an attractive and cost-effective option for a basic standing desk.

The Difference between Type A and Type B Artiss Standing Desks

Artiss offers two types of desks; Type A and Type B, available in both Desktop sizes; 140 cm and 120 cm. They differ in various specifications, as shown below.

I've used the Type A Artiss Standing Desk with a 140 cm walnut-coloured desktop and black frame for several weeks, and I'm very happy with the product. I have not used the single Motor Type A variation.

The price difference is not that significant so I would expect for most people that the longevity of dual motors and the presence of height presets mean they should choose the Type A.

Best Bits of the Artiss Sit-Stand Desk

Here are the standout features of the Artiss Sit-Stand Desk; I'll go over seven reasons why the standing desk is worth it.

1. Build quality

Although cheaper, the controls and build quality of the sit-stand desk are still excellent. The control module is sleek, and the height adjustment buttons have a nice, tactile feel. Artiss is designed with a high-quality powder-coated steel frame and components, ensuring that the height adjustable desk is durable. The desk’s frame can withstand the rigours of daily use. Regardless of testing with my heavy workstation and everyday use, it remained sturdy.

The desk’s dual motor is also reliable and ensures that the desk moves smoothly and quietly. The eco-friendly particleboard material desktop gives a contemporary design. It also has an anti-scratch finish with rounded corners and smooth edges, making it stylish and comfortable.

2. Desktop options

The Artiss stand-up desk comes in four desktop colour options. They are priced equally and include White, Black, Natural Oak, and Walnut. I like the Walnut colour; for you, of course, it depends on your office space.

There are two sizes of desk options available to choose from; 120 cm and 140 cm. This is true for both the Type A and Type B desk options. The last time I checked, the price difference was only $36! So, I don't see why anyone would not just take the larger one unless they had a space constraint in their room or were very into Feng shui!

3. Cable management

The Artiss Standing Desk comes with some clips and ties that can be used for basic cable management. It's not the best, but I can't complain much at its price point. It gets part of the work done, but you will likely wish they had included a cable management tray soon.

Unfortunately, Artiss doesn't also include any accessories with the standing desk. This may not bother you if you work with only a few devices, however, I experimented and successfully fitted the UpDown cable tray under the desk to reduce the cable clutter. I reckon the Desky mini cable tray would work, too.

4. Stylish controls

As I mentioned while discussing the desk's build quality, the controls on the Artiss Standing Desk are pretty stylish. The adjustment switch is located at the bottom of the frame and is easily accessible. It has a nice black finish with a glossy touch. The buttons are large and easy to press, making it easy to change the height of the desk quickly.

There is also an LCD screen at the bottom of the frame, showing you the current height setting and other important information. The LCD screen is bright and, thus, is easy to read. Artiss allows you to attach the panel at either side of your standing desk during assembly for convenience.

I should make it very clear that the controls of the Artiss Standing Desk differ for the two types they offer. The Type A has a complete control panel with three height presets, whereas the Type B option only includes height adjustment buttons.

5. Ease of assembly

The package came with the motorised adjustable desk frame, the desktop, and the assembly instructions. With the assembly instructions, Artiss could learn from Ikea (or the NorthDay EverDesk). The given instructions were simply one diagram with a whole bunch of letters, numbers and arrows and an expectation that you will get it all in right the first time, so there will be an almost inevitable back and forth. Still, it was well-packed, and I was able to complete the setup in a reasonable time, at this point I have assembled a fair number of standing desks though.

While the Artiss Standing Desk also comes with pre-drilled holes you will still need a power drill to drill holes for the control panel. The company does not drill these holes intentionally, so you can install the control panel at the place of your convenience.

Like most standing desks, once assembled, it is pretty heavy and you might need assistance flipping it.

6. Pricing

For the price, the Artiss Standing Desk is of excellent value. It retails at a more affordable price point compared to other similar desks.

After now reviewing so many standing desks and now being most likely the authority on reviewing stand-up desks for the Australian market, I am confident in saying that the (Type A) Artiss Standing Desk is the only budget-friendly sit-stand desk that can be compared with high-end standing desks.

However, note that the variations of the Artiss sit-stand desk are actually priced much higher on their own site than they are from the reseller sites; the best deals change between sites, but you can find the best deal here. I think the significant difference in price is very interesting, Artiss must have decided to capitalise on word of mouth to make a higher profit on their own site when people search for their product specifically.

7. Warranty

Artiss offers a 1-year warranty if you directly purchase it from the manufacturer. I know; that's relatively small compared to the 10+ warranties offered on other desk options. But consider the price, and there's little to complain about. Artiss also provides a warranty against damaged or defective products that arrive upon delivery, but you must make a claim within two days of delivery.

Unlike the UpDown Pro and the EverDesk, Artiss offers no trial period. Instead, it offers a 30-day change of mind policy. After receiving the product, if you change your mind and want to return the product, you can do it. But the package must be unopened, unused, and original. Still, you won’t get a full refund; a 10% admin cost will be deducted from the total cost.

What Can Be Improved on the Artiss Sit-Stand Desk?

The Artiss Sit-Stand desk also has its drawbacks. Here are four reasons to avoid the standing desk.

1. Not suitable for luxury homes

While the sit-stand desk doesn’t look inexpensive, it cannot be mistaken for a high-end standing desk like the UpDown Pro Series. The desk is well-designed, very functional, and has some charm. But do not mistake it for a high-end model; the particleboard with melamine coating desktop is not a suitable piece of furniture for a luxury home.

As a cheaper option, it suits anyone transitioning from a traditional desk to a sit-stand desk with a minimal budget.

2. Low weight-bearing capacity

The Artiss is bang on for the price point, with more of an Ikea feel; the desktop is thinner, based on particleboard, and there is only a single cross-beam to support the weight. The type A desk model that I purchased has a static load capacity limit of 100 kg, while type B can carry only up to 70 kg of load.

3. No trial period

Artiss completely lags behind the other competitors when it comes to offering a trial period for customer satisfaction. For instance, the UpDown Pro offers a 100-day trial period that reflects the trust UpDown has in its products. Without a trial period, it may be challenging to determine if you will be satisfied before buying.

That is not to say there is no circumstance where you cannot return the product after purchase, however, you must not use or even open the package lest you void the 30-day change of mind policy that allows you to return the product for a 90% refund. Artiss takes 10% as a restocking fee or admin cost on the total amount.

4. No accessories

Artiss is an excellent choice in terms of design and construction, but the desk doesn't come with any accessories. As I said earlier, you can use a cable tray from UpDown Pro (which I tested out) and likely many others to manage your cables.

Artiss Sit-Stand Desk: Rating & Ranking

Compared to its competition, the Artiss Sit-Stand Desk performed relatively well. Even though it ranks behind high-end standing desk options; UpDown Pro Desk Desk (4.6), NorthDay EverDesk (4.4), and the Desky Sit-Stand (4.3).

The EverDesk is the more upscale and innovative model of the two regarding the number of accessories offered. Artiss offers no cable management system, but EverDesk features an advanced UniGroove cable management system for smaller devices along with a cable tray and many extendable and helpful accessories.

Artiss weighs 10 kg less than the EverDesk Standing Desk. It also has a loading capacity of 20 kg less than the EverDesk. The height range of Artiss is less (69 to 118 cm for type A and only 72 to 122 cm for type B),  whereas the EverDesk is adjustable from 60 to 124 cm.

The one-year warranty of Artiss also looks like child's play compared to the 14-year overall warranty period on the EverDesk. Again, Artiss is the cheaper option.

Comparing the Artiss Dual motor vs the Desky Dual motor, the latter stands out as the more advanced and feature-rich option. It offers a much more comprehensive range of adjustable features and a more robust construction and warranty coverage. Desky dual provides a more generous Desktop space of up to 180 cm, while the largest Artiss Desk option is 140 cm.

The frame weighs 36 kg, while the Artiss weighs 21 kg. It can also withstand a 140 kg load compared to Artiss' 100 kg weight capacity. For height adjustment, the Artiss Standing desk falls short compared to Desky's 60 to 125 cm range.
