Delegate Responsibilities Rather Than Doing Everything Yourself

If you do everything that can be done by your employees, they will relax and get used to that state of affairs. You will have little time for the really important issues that only the manager can solve.

There is such a temptation: "it takes me longer to explain and set the task than to do it myself". As a result, the newly minted manager is swamped with work, and his employees don't know what to do.

In order not to lose their grip and to understand what is going on in general, sometimes you have to immerse yourself in small daily tasks. For example, to show how to do it and what are the results you expect from your employees. Most importantly, higher-level tasks shouldn't suffer.

It's okay not to know or be able to do something. Find a mentor: someone you can ask for advice at a difficult time. Watch how he works, and adopt all the good stuff.

Use Metrics in Your Work to Achieve Your Goals

Setting goals for the entire department and achieving them is the most important task of leaders. Learn to use different metrics to evaluate the performance of your employees, so you and they will know where to move.

Be confident, but if You Can't Handle It, Look for Other Development Options

The inner core and confidence in your actions are important for a manager. Strive to develop yourself and inspire the development of your subordinates.

This is not given to everybody. So, define for yourself definitively, do you need it? If you shudder at the thought of constant employment and high responsibility, can't sleep because of constant reports, you should not start your career.
