Stain or Seal?

There’s a lot of confusion as to whether one should stain or seal Cedar Shake and shingles. Often these two terms are confused or used interchangeably, however they are quite different. While sealing cedar shakes and shingles can cause the wood to dry out and decay at an accelerated rate, staining infuses the wood with oils that helps extend its life and function while improving its appearance.
