Boo! Now that we have your attention, we want to talk to you about a very important issue: Halloween in Portland. It’s a screamingly good time when ghouls, goblins, and pumpkin spice lattes are out in full force. If you’re anything like us at Osprey Apartments, you enjoy hopping on your broomstick and hitting the town. (How about these Halloween references, eh?)

And, whether you love or hate being scared out of your wits, there’s an event that will surely appeal to you. We’ve got the lowdown on the best ways to spend All Hallows’ Eve, which we will share with you today.

Wenzel Farm Fantasy Trail ($6 Adults, $5 Kids)

For over two decades, Wenzel Farm has been entertaining PDX-ers with a fun Fantasy Trail. It’s definitely a kid-friendly way to spend Halloween in Portland. The wooded path, which is well lit for the scaredy-cats out there, is 1000 feet of spooky decorations and scenes. There’s also a castle, maze, suspension bridge, pumpkin patch, and one-of-a-kind crooked house.

Haunted Pub Tour ($45)

Underground tunnels, opium dens, legitimately haunted spaces, and beer. That’s what you get when you take this 2.5-hour Pub Tour through the Old Town District. In addition to visiting two pubs, you’ll be guided through Portland’s Shanghai Tunnels, which were a hotbed of illegal and murderous activity a century ago. As you probably guessed, this is not a family-friendly event.

13th Door Haunted House ($20)

When it’s Halloween in Portland, you absolutely have to take a visit to 13th Door. Considered to be the Northwest’s top haunted attraction, 13th Door features psychos, monsters, darkness, crypts, blood, gore, and smells. That’s right, smells. You have to admire a dedication to details!

Halloween Fun at Portland Aerial Tram (Free)

Located just a few minutes from Osprey, the Portland Aerial Tram is normally just a great public transportation feature of the South Waterfront District. But, when it’s Halloween, it’s an awesome spot to take the kids for some good old-fashioned face painting, and arts and crafts. Oh, and of course, a ride on the Tram.

Halloween Walking Tour ($18)

This is where Halloween in Portland becomes debaucherous. The Halloween Walking Tour takes you through historic spots where bordellos, drugs, gambling halls, and kidnappings were rampant. The tour ends at the oldest strip club in Portland. Enough said.

80s Dance Video Halloween Party ($17)

Even if you weren’t alive in the 80s, you probably remember the 80s. That’s why you should pop on your best costume and hit up the Crystal Ballroom on October 27 at 8 p.m. It’ll be four hours of New Wave music, dancing, videos, and tons of fun.

Hawthorne Ghost Tour ($20 Adults, $10 Kids)

Why not get in some light exercise while celebrating Halloween in Portland? With The Hawthorne Ghost Tour, you’ll be learning some spooky history as well as hunting for ghosts. The walk is about about a mile and a half, and everything takes place in East Portland’s old red light district. The whole experience lasts approximately 1.5 hours.

Run Like Hell 2017 (Various Prices if You’re Running)

Speaking of exercise, how about stepping it up a notch with a marathon? Run Like Hell will take place on October 22 in the downtown PDX area. In addition to the race, there will be a costume contest, live music, beer, cider, and a kids zone.

West Linn Haunted Trail ($15)

What better way to spend Halloween in Portland than at an event that warns, “not recommended for the elderly or very young as it’s not a trick-or-treat trail”? It’s no wonder given that this haunted trail has you taking a walk through dark woods filled with frightening cultists and creatures. (Despite the warning, if you have little ones with you, that’s okay – there’s a separate family-friendly Enchanted Trail for them.)

Well, there you have it – our recommendations for the best ways to celebrate Halloween in the Rose City. We do hope you have an un-boo-lievably good time! (Okay, we’ll stop now.)
