6 Quintessentially Portland Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day in 2017

Father’s Day is fast approaching. Have you figured out what you’re going to do for dear old Dad this year? If you haven’t, don’t worry – you’re in Portland! Most likely, you’ve heard the phrase “keep Portland weird”. Well, Father’s Day should be no different! Planning creative and unique excursions is a great way to show Dad you care. And, lucky for you, Osprey’s south waterfront apartments in Portland are located near some of the best spots and events in the Rose City. We’re in the know to help you keep your title as THE favorite child in Dad’s eyes.

  1. Delta Park Powwow and Encampment

This is a great way to enjoy Father’s Day in Portland and experience Portland’s rich culture. From June 16 to 18, East Delta Park becomes home to an incredible intertribal celebration. For nearly 50 years, Pacific Northwesterners have been coming to the Delta Park Powwow and Encampment to admire Native American dance competitions, performances, food vendors, exhibitions, and arts and crafts.

  1. Berry Festival

Who doesn’t love to go berry picking every now and then? You and Dad can stuff your faces full of delicious Lee Farms berries, hot dogs, and sweets at the Berry Festival. And, once you’re done doing that, you can work it all off by taking a stroll through hay mazes. This event occurs between June 16 and 18 and is only about 30 minutes from downtown and our south waterfront apartments in Portland.

  1. Grateful Dad Marathon

Is Dad a health nut and a Deadhead? If so, then you’ll want to check out the Grateful Dad Marathon on June 17. You can bond while running a 5K, 10K, or half marathon. Then, after the race, enjoy some food, drinks, and Grateful Dead tunes.

  1. Oregon Renaissance Faire

Dost thou have a father that loves knights and jousting? Well, this should have him saying “Huzzah!” On June 17 and 18, the Oregon Renaissance Faire is in full force, and families from all over Oregon will be descending upon Clackamas County Fairgrounds to enjoy sights, sounds, and foods inspired by Scotland’s Renaissance era.

  1. Father’s Day Cruise

Okay, so maybe Pops is a little more into taking it slow. If that’s the case, think about sailing the Willamette River on a Father’s Day Cruise through Portland Spirit. There are several different options to choose from including sightseeing, brunch, and dinner cruises. We’re big fans of the Willamette since our south Waterfront Portland Apartments sit right next to it!

  1. A Special Father’s Day Meal

Of course, you’ll probably want to work in a very special meal at some point. We’ve got you covered there, too:

  • RingSide Fish House

RingSide is one of the top seafood restaurants in Portland, and there will be a special Father’s Day menu. Moreover, the wine list is no joke – Wine Spectator Magazine named it “One of the Best Restaurants in the World for Wine Lovers”. One of the best things about living in South Waterfront Portland apartments is that RingSide is only 10 minutes away!

  • HopCity Tavern

If Dad is more of an early bird, try to get a spot at HopCity Tavern. Father’s Day will feature a breakfast buffet from 6:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and a brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant boasts scrumptious food and drink from local farms, breweries, and wineries.

  • Portland City Grill

With Portland City Grill, you get the option of a fancy brunch or dinner. The menu is incredibly eclectic, showcasing steaks, sushi, seafood, and much, much more. There’s also stunning views of the Willamette. Really, you can’t go wrong here!

We certainly hope we’ve helped you plan a wonderful Father’s Day in Portland! Making sure Portlanders are well-connected to their City is our thing at Osprey. It’s part of the reason why residents who live in our south waterfront Portland apartments feel that there is nowhere else they’d rather be.

We did more than just choose an amazing location that’s close to all that the Rose City has to offer. We created a community that is an homage to a Portland way of being. The designs, finishes, and features of our apartments and social spaces promote an urban and modern lifestyle. But, a respect for nature is never lost. Features like bike rooms and an outdoor storage and gear room encourage residents to take advantage of the neighboring Willamette River and Greenway. Plus, our Central and Eastside courtyards allow you to take in the fresh air and gorgeous views without leaving the Osprey building. It’s a perfect blend of metropolitan and natural experiences. We always work to create a balanced lifestyle for our residents – it’s a part of a philosophy we call Thoughtful Living.
