A Budding Monday

Our almond Tree is starting to bud. They are the earliest of the stone fruits here in the land of fruit and nuts, that start Budding in February. They bloom when the weather is cold and rainy. We're at 56 degrees as a high. Brrrrrr.

It's always a welcome sign that spring is just about here for our region. Not everywhere in California is having spring. Up in the mountains, it's snowing and every morning we can look up at the mountains and see fresh snow.

I wanted to go to Weaverville to observe Chinese New Year at the Joss Temple, but there are snowy mountainous roads. We decided to pass - ah it was me who wanted to pass. The husband is always game for some excitement. I just have been so cold at 50+ degrees and can't seem to get warm. Why would I want to get colder?

It was a lot warmer last year...

So we took a walk instead.

This is by the Sacramento River - a little park in town that was cleaned up a couple of years ago. It had been taken over.

Nur Pon - a Saturday morning walk

They still have to patrol the area - as you can see here, there is a meth pipe. You have to watch your little ones and where you step, if you walk off the path - you could get stuck with hypodermic needles.

When I go to my favorite Dollar Tree, the parking lot has been taken over as well. They clean it up but at times, there are used condoms and used needles in the parking lot.

One of the walking bridges over the river.

The river is quite high and Shasta Dam is letting out a little water for flood control, down the river. Once the temperatures rise and the snow starts melting, they will be letting out more water.

Today I had an appointment -

Tomorrow we're taking Laydee to the vet - she has this growth under her chin that is growing and is cause for some concern. We had it checked out a few months ago, but it is getting bigger.

That's all I have for you today. I have soup cooking and it's ready now. Talk with you all soon.
