The Lake, Dreams, Trees, and Dad

Tags: dream loved rain

With all the Rain we've been getting, we drove out to see how it is measuring up at the Dam. It's looking good. It must stay in the "rain mode." for a couple more months.

In the distance is Mt Shasta shadowed by the thin layers of clouds pancaked on top of each other to make, in essence, a floating cap. The atmospheric phenomenon is known as lenticular clouds.

Except for a few fishermen - Foodie and I were the only ones enjoying the lake.

Afterward, we did some grocery shopping. Not fun anymore. I'll pick something off the shelf, look at the price, and then decide if it is worth it. Lately, I put more back on the shelf and just decide that I'd rather put the money into quality - which means cooking more from scratch. I do miss having those occasional conveniences that take the edge off of cooking every single night.

Tonight I'm making tacos - We're skipping homemade pizza this week. My appetite has shrunk. I don't weigh myself - I go by how my clothes fit. I've noticed for a month or so, I don't need to unzip my jeans anymore - I just slide them off.

Funny thing - the other night, my husband woke up yelling,

"Just give me the Damn phone, will you?"

Startled me - we laughed about it and went back to sleep. In the morning he told me he was dreaming, he was back in the Navy.  He dreams he's in the military all the time. I guess after 20 years, it's in there to stay.

I have three dreams that seem to rotate but I dream of other things as well.

1. High school - I'm flunking out and have to take a test or I won't graduate.

2. I forgot to pick my boys up after school or after a sporting event and it's dark - sometimes I can't find them.

3. I still dream of some of my daycare kids - I Loved them as if they were my own. I also loved and enjoyed my business. Picking out toys and planning the play area in my backyard.  Good times.

I love to sleep because I dream a lot, most of which are fascinating and entertaining.

Do you have any reoccurring dreams?

Do you remember your dreams?

I'm seeing Bullwinkle...

Well, maybe not. I do see the face of some creature with a big snout - just one of the eyes.

I do want to mention that I completely missed my dad's heaven date of Jan 8, 2007. It's a first and I guess that is a good thing. I'm no longer fixated on his death but rather his life and the memories. This was his very last photo. I sure miss him.

He was everything to me and I don't know if he ever really knew that. I know I mention my dad a lot - I was the boy he didn't have. (my half-brother was being raised by his mother 2000 miles away) I hung out with my dad - watching him fish, and work on cars - build things - home improvements. We watched war movies and westerns together. He was a manly man. A gentleman and a man's man. Everybody loved my dad. Mostly he was my daddy and my protector. God surely picked His best for me.
